This here is the official thread for our Game Club pick numero dos, the Resident Evil Remake! In celebration of both Halloween and the impending release of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, this month's Game Club selection is none other than the Resident Evil 1 remake on the Wii (and Gamecube). Yes, we know, a lot of you are nostalgic for the original version, but we're going to play this version together and talk about our experiences and comparisons to the original. If you REALLY have to, you can play the original version (which is available on the PSN store), but we highly recommend playing along with either the Gamecube edition or the recently released Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil. For this first assignment, all you have to do is obtain your copy of the game and play around with it a bit. I won't specify how much to play, but just get acquainted and discuss in the fresh forum thread here.

How ironic, I did a playthrough of the GC remake on REAL SURVIVAL with Jill a few days ago and here are a few pictures I took along the way. I only saved 3 times and here's the proof. The following photos are of my favorite area: the residence building, the encounter with Wesker after the Plant 42 fight, my favorite Bravo team member Enrico, and the final encounter with Wesker in the Arklay lab.

One of my favorite Capcom games and Gamecube games in general. I don't know about you guys, but I prefer to play as Jill over Chris just because of her extra inventory space. |

I usually play as Chris when I am up for a challenge especially when playing real survival mode, doing that with Chris took me about seven hours and some odd minutes due to the small inventory and overall harder elements to over come.

Even though I, somehow, beat this game just under 5 hours about 4 years ago...I'm very scared to go back to it.
I mean, jeez, when I first obtained a copy in the GC days...I could barely even hold the controller without crapping my pants.
So this is going to be quite the challenge for me...mostly due to the fact that this game still makes me afraid. But for some odd reason, I'm less scared of silent hill..when I shouldn't be.

Yeah playing the original silent hill games late at night with the volume up were the only games to get me jumpy besides my first playthrough of deadspace.

Look at my profile photo. I don't have any in-game photos to speak of (all of the photos on here are from IGN, because irony just loves to be around), but I'm glad the REmake is number two. Haven't gotten around to picking up an original PS1 (haven't gotten around to finding a PS1/2 to play it on either), but I imagine that a number of areas were added, the Birkin journal was tacked on (don't remember seeing it in an archive of PS1 RE1 files), the graphics engine was replaced with a Porsche, and Defense Items were put in. Plus, no Engrish and new (?) alternate cutscenes.
If I am to die before my time, I count that a gain: for when any one lives, as I do, compassed about with evils, can such an one find aught but gain in death?

I have to say that, next to silent hill 3...silent hill 2 is one game I always feel uneasy playing...to me it is the most freaky/ psychological screwy game I've ever played.
But Dead space...ehh....not so much, mostly due to the fact that all the scares were very obvious after you got past the first chapter. I mean, even with surround sound that game wasn't that hectic.
I will admit this though, the final cutscene of the game did make me jump.
