well, even in crappy SD...this game still scares me. I'm afraid to continue any further.
At the moment, I have the imitation key....now to use it somewhere.

I couldn't finish REmake when I bought it ~ a year ago, because it scared the crap out of me. When I saw it was this weeks Club game I gave it another try on sunday though and finally managed to continue from the shark pond to the end and finish it Not sure if the second half is less scary or if sinking nearly 30 hours into Umbrella Chronicles did the trick If there ever is going to be a REmake 2, I want analog movement a la Onimusha 3 and an unlimited inventory please. The amount of pointless item-organization-backtracking is insane, even with Jill... |

Hey everyone, I just posted the latest assignment on the blog. I'm reposting here for you all to discuss! All right, if you didn't already know, the Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube (and the recent Wii release, Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil) is this month's game club pick. Last friday, I gave you all the simple assignment of obtaining the game and getting familiar with the first few minutes of the game. Today, we're kicking it up a notch and I'm actually going to assign something more substantial. Assignment 1.5 Play (as either Chris or Jill) until you get to the residence (after the courtyard). You'll know the location because you will have used the square crank to lower the water to get to the elevator that leads to a garden full of crows. Capice? This assignment is due next Tuesday, but as always, you can keep an eye on the forums for daily discussions. Try to stop yourself when you get to that point so we can all play together. I'll be gone Wednesday-Monday, but Mikeeb (of Nostalgia Diaries fame) has volunteered to lead discussions in the forums in my absence. Enjoy! See you all next Tuesday for your next assignment!

Hey guys, before I start I wanted an opinion this is my first time playing through RE1 as I only got through half of RE1&2, so I don't have much experience with the older games. Who should I play with Chirs or Jill, I heard Jill was the easier one, if it helps I like Jill as a character more? Also I know for example in RE2 the canon is Claire A and Leon B, and I know RE1 cannon focuses a lot on Chris, but anyway who should I go with to see the most canon story, since I'm really big into the story line? |

looks like I bought the game at the right time. I just started playing it, with Jill obviously, as it is my first real RE experience. after trying RE:DS (yes, I know it's far from being the best RE) and thinking I "hated" RE games after I played the demo of RE2 years ago on PC (yes, I'm a loser), I thought I should give the game a proper chance, even if I'm still not really fond of tank controls :P I'll try to go along with you |

DISCUSSION QUESTION 1 Hopefully by now you've played a bit of the REmake. For those of you that have played the original RE, what do you think so far of the changes? For those of you that began your RE career with the REmake, do you think you could ever go back to the original version to play through? Discuss below!

Well I just started now with Jill(thanks jgonzo) and I've been at it for like 30 minutes now. So far the cut scenes are just better, I mean I miss the cheesiness but this just feels more RE to me. The environment is excellent and just the overall feel of the game feels tighter and more solid. I see now why I hear this is considered one of the best remakes or all time. Then again I'm only 30 mintutes of so in and now I got to study for a math test, so I'll get back to it later. At the same time I didn't play all of the original so I'll answer the second question too; I think I could go back and play the original as a portable casually like for PSP or even the DS Port (the knife combat in that was fun). When I finish this run I might borrow the DS port from a friend of mine to play through it on my spare time. But, I'm pretty sure for me this is the definitive version of RE, it just feels better then what I remember despite it having been a few years. |

I started out with the RE director's cut for PS, but never fully completed it since I was real young back then and more into playing SNES, but I played the REmake for GC and after all the tries and getting through the creepiness of the more realistic and far more scarier zombies/crimson heads, I finished it back in 2002, then I went back and played the original about 2 years ago and finished that. Now I fly through both every now and then when I'm into it, but I mainly play real survival with chris for the remake and use chris for the original. As far as the graphics and environment, the remake was perfect and with all the added documents and rooms/puzzles it only made it more fun to play.
