Keep the ideas coming! Remember though, these badges are going to be rather small, so entire people and such are way too much detail.

Think maybe a face, or an item from your favorite game. Even a logo from in the game, like Grey Fox suggested like S.T.A.R.S. I'm sure you'll come up with some sweet ideas, just remember that these will be tiny images around the same size as the smiley faces

No! I mean yes! I mean no. YES! no.

Maybe.

It'll be cool for high level badges to have flaming or glowing animations. Or a powered-up form of the character.

Ex:
Normal Wang-Tang>>>Henshin Wang-Tang (with all the sides of the badge glowing)

Or badges in bronze, silver and gold!

I think a mini motorcycle would be cool to represent motogp08.  Or maybe a motorcycle helmet.

Metools from megaman classic is also a good badge.
