Both are saviors of Metro City. Although Cap is fighting 20 years+ after Final Fight. Members of their team know the fighting style Bushin-ryu. I think it would be an awesome idea if Capcom would make a connection between Captain Commando and Final Fight. Make Cody his father or something lol.

I see what you're getting at, but I'd worry that would come off as corny or cliche. I mean, Metro City can have different generations of heroes without it being from the same biological lineage. That would be like if Capt. Picard was some decendant of Capt. Kirk. I often prefer a more "passing of the torch" approach than upholding a family legacy. From a storytelling perspective, if they were related, Capt. Commando's efforts would feel centered more around upholding his own family name than it would be helping those in need. "This is for YOU, Metro City!" is far more selfless and heroic than, "This is for YOU, Grampa Cody!"

Strider 2 on PSone was pretty fun, but I guess it didn't sell well enough to make a 3. Maybe some day it will be worth exploring again, though the new Prince of Persia that's coming out looks like a ripoff of Strider.
