Puzzle Fighter 2 HD Remix, SSF2 HD Remix, Talisman, Harvey Birdman, Rocketmen, MotoGP and many other unnannounced projects were initiated and are run by CEI (the unannounced ones tend to be "larger" projects with longer development times). We use outside development but they're managed and overseen by a team of internal producers, technical director and soon an art director and creative director.

Can you say if these "larger" titles are new IPs or not? Or based on existing franchises (Capcom owned or not) or completely new/original IPs? Or what the scale of said projects are, ie what you've announced so far or recently I think many would consider "small" in terms of the individual products themselves when compared to other games or when compared to lets say the titles Studio 8 did, so basicly I'm asking are these larger projects on the scale of Studio 8 productions?

Many are new IP. Some are not. :)  A number of the unannounced titles are far larger in scale and scope (and budget) than anything attempted by Studio 8 during its existence. Some of the unnannounced things are of the scale and scope of the projects we've already announced. So it runs the gammut.

Interesting. :)

Maybe they truly are waiting to do it in HD. I mean Sven did say they have to have stuff for the upcoming years.

If they're waiting to do it in HD and won't think of touching the Final Fight franchise in a long time (say 2009, 2010) why even bother with a direct HD port?? Might as well do a full blown Final Fight sequel/remix with HD versions of the entire cast of characters from the FF games (not just the original 3) including Maki & Carlos. Perhaps even include a few others like Charlie, Sakura or Fei Long.

Well given that it be digital there's really no need for a sequel, ie given that it can be done completely digital I think they'd most likely do something of a remake with the original three characters, then over time include the others (Maki, etc) as downloadable characters that work in conjunction with what's already there.

At this point and time there really seems to be no reason to make an actual sequel rather then just a game featuring all the FF characters. For instance are there really any major story differences between the classic FF games? No, not really, they're all about a small group of heroes going up against the street gangs of Metro City in order to stop whatever crimeboss, ie each story is basicly the samething, so I imagine it be better/easier to just do FFHD with a retooled storyline of the original game(s) that works with all the FF characters.

There is a fan-made version of Final Fight that includes all the FF characters in a single game (running on the Beats of Rage engine) incase anybody is intrested.

Perhaps even include a few others like Charlie, Sakura or Fei Long.

Well if they do it the same way they do SFHD, then they should easily be able to carry over the SFHD sprites intro FFHD. For instance if you bought SFHD and FFHD you'd be able to use all of SFHD's contents/characters in FFHD and all of FFHD's characters in SFHD, so essentialy both games would work like expansion packs of sorts, and the same can/could be done with a Darkstalkers HD game or whatever else they want to do in 2D HD in the same style.

Basicly Capcom could build up to their own version of MUGEN + Beats of Rage, except it be better because it be official it wouldn't have all the same problems those fan made engines have, plus if SNK (and whoever else) decides to go HD too, we could possibly this idea or concept on a very large scale, ie it's almost like having a single engine and then developing everything (SF, FF, DS, KOF, GGX, etc) on that single engine (or this case format) so that they can be combined or used interchangably.

I've thought about some of those same ideas, TAS, and I'd love to see'em happen someday.

Well, a full-blown sequel could have some extra gameplay elements not found in the original 3 games. For instance, the game sequel could have multiple-branching paths (a'la Capcom's D&D arcade games), some slight puzzle-solving, platforming & even RPG-style non-linear character progression (level upgrades that would let you learn extra moves or take more damage). There's quite a bit more that could be done with the multi-directional side-scrolling genre and would be great to see on a true modern sequel to Final Fight (and I don't mean Streetwise :( ).

Yes, but also note that you could have all those upgrades in FFHD, ie FFHD wouldn't have to be an exact remake the way SFHD is.

True. It wouldn't have to.
But taking what we know of Capcom's HD Remixes of Super Street Fighter II Turbo & Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, it seems like an HD Remix version of Final Fight would more than likely end up being a straight forward remake.

Well, I just finished playing Double Dragon on XBLA, co-op w/my hubby and couldn't help but see how much more fun it would be if Final Fight came to XBLA. :( :( :(

There's also some great Capcom games like Knights of the Round, Warriors of Fate & Captain Commando that would be pure arcade bliss on XBLA.

That just reminds or makes me think how there needs to be a new Double Dragon game. Although I'm sure somebody has already done a fan made one with Rage of The Dragons sprites (using the Beats of Rage engine) although why SNK (or whoever it was that made RoD or owns it) didn't make a beat-em up mode in it as a extra mode is beyond me.

CEI get the Double Dragon rights!

This is something Capcom should seriously think 'bout.

Almost all SF fans are Final Fight fans and with the sudden hype for SF4 releasing Final Fight for the Wii's Virtua console would be awesome.

One of those games I really miss...
