Well, it's me, A Robot Appears. Some of you may recognize me from the Mega Man, Street Fighter, Capcom Games, and Ask Capcom sections. I had to pick a new name because 1. spaces aren't allowed in your usernames now and 2. underscores also aren't allowed if it's within the first few letters. And I don't know about you, but I'd get mighty annoyed over time if I had ARobotAppears with no spaces in it as my username. I like my usernames to have spaces, thank you very much. :P
Uh....where should I start? I'm currently 19 years old and in college (graduating in August) and I've been a Capcom fan since 2 years old. My first Capcom game was Street Fighter, the one with the six buttons in place of the two hydraulic pads. First played it at a laundromat when I was about 3 or so. My mom and dad would have to hold me up for me to play it 'cause I was so small.
Then when SF2 came out I "graduated" to having my mom bring a couple milk crates for me to stand on (I was about 4 at this time). Of course I was no good at the game at that age. Around that same time, I had been playing games like Mega Man 2 and Strider constantly (along with arcade games like Final Fight and SonSon). Strider was one of the very first games I actually beat.
Outside of gaming, I draw more than most other people could ever imagine. Well, sometimes. Other times I waste time on the computer (most of it is a side effect of me going into graphic design as a career), or watch TV. Or play games. Mostly Capcom games. :P
I post on other forums too, but usually under different names. On SNK-Capcom.com I'm known as Arigato Roboto, which is the name I got my Capcom BBS name "A Robot Appears" from. I'm a lot more brash/boastful on there (to fit better with the tone I guess) but I'm usually more laid-back than anything, especially around these parts. :)
But anyway, before I spiral off into some irrelevant diatribe, I'm a collector, fan, and follower of most Capcom titles. Right now I have about 150 of their games, give or take a few (this is from years of searching, collecting, trading, and everything else a collector does to get what he wants). A lot of them are doubles or re-releases. I had more Capcom games a few years back but got rid of them due to lack of space and money. But I'm slowly building my small collection back up over time. Just the other day I picked up Mega Man Star Force Pegasus to complement my copy of Dragon, and I'm planning on getting Leo sometime soon.
I also have a couple artbooks of theirs (the Breath of Fire Official Artbook and Eternal Challenge) but those are kept under lock and key due to my friends' and relatives' tendencies of screwing anything printed I own up enough to where it crumbles into dust. I collect most of the Udon comics, and have some of their translated SF manga, and I even have the few Capcom comics that Dreamwave made.
Overall, they're my favorite game company out of all of them. They've made nearly all my favorite games (along with Square and Sega-- but those two companies are for later blog entries), and they continue to deliver. With SF4, a possible Mega Man 9, two new Bionic Commando games, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom coming out, they're really kicking some......*ahem*......rear.
But yeah, this is basically a glimpse into what I'm like. Expect frequent updates of this here blog. :D
