    "The GAF Collection" does Capcom

    Monday, April 13, 2009, 01:20 PM [Community]

The always-impresive photoshop army over at NeoGaf has been creating some arty new covers for their favorite games, inspired by the fantastic DVD covers from the Criterion Collection (examples of their covers are here).

Of course the collection features a ton of great takes on Capcom games--some really beautiful work, including some inspired by Unity's own RelentlessRolento.

The original gaf thread is here, and you can find most of the collected images in one easy-viewing location here.

DIY Stick Art: SFIV FightStick Faceplate Templates

    Monday, February 9, 2009, 05:08 PM [Community]

As promised, here are the faceplate template PSDs for the award-winning Mad Catz joysticks:

    FightStick Template

    Tournament Edition FightStick Template

You can use the templates to size whatever art you'd like to the stick face, then print these babies out down at your local Kinkos (or wherever) and you can get em laminated to add what we call "a touch of class."

Here are a couple of basic examples from MarkMan

It must be said:  Swapping out the standard art for whatever you put on these templates will require you to open up your joystick.  Opening up the stick, for any reason (yes, even if you got your beard stuck in there) will VOID YOUR WARRANTY, so we in no way encourage you to do that. These might be the easiest-to-mod sticks ever made, but modding is not for you unless (like me) you value being awesome more than having a warranty.

Also, these are just example faceplates, since you probably do not own the rights to these images.  To be safe, you should only put pictures of, say, your cat or something on these joysticks :)

Finally, just in case you are new on this planet and haven't been already been completely saturated with how awesome these things are, check out this nice overview (complete with reviews) from MarkMan over at Shoryuken...

Amy Winehouse or the Living Dead?

    Ashy-grey skin: check

    Torn clothes:  check

Arm stretched, yearning to satisfy bottomless, evil appetites:  check

Pained expression reflecting the torments of a living hell:  check

    Cocked head:  check

Awkwardly bent ankle reflecting unholy, stumbling indifference to pain:  check

Definitely tough to tell them apart outside of the recording studio.  Keep your shotguns cocked just in case...

    Thanks Kevin!

    The Spanish Street Fighter... Pianist

A lot of people ask me "Seth, where can I go to hear the best in Street Fighter piano arrangements, performed live?"

My answer is always the same, and if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times:  the Math Department Faculty concerts in Barcelona.

    Duh!
