Some heavy action will be coming up soon ;)

“Is that your reply to everything, friend? Practice?” The middle-aged teacher joked a bit.

Jason and I turned back to the door when we heard it creak open. Veronica was already on her way in. Anyone could plainly see that she was extremely worried over her fiancé, and that her mind was focused entirely on finding him. I, however, knew there was a possibility that some of the creatures had gotten into the house, so I was a little more on guard. I let Jason walk in before, as I check behind us just to see if any of the zombies were headed for us. I then walked inside, and closed the door behind me.

“Stay close to her.” I said to Jason, and then started into the living room, which was right in front us.
Veronica was scurrying about frantically, calling out: “Martin!” I assumed that was the name of her fiancé.
I went into the east side of the house, where the spare room and half bath were, and checked both rooms thoroughly. No one. I noted mentally, and then started back into the living room. Again I heard Veronica’s voice calling out the name Martin.
Jason & Veronica came into the living room, and stopped before me. “You didn’t find him either.” Jason asked.
“No.” I answered plainly. I tried to keep my eyes off of Ms. Diaz, knowing that the very instant I looked into those dark brown eyes of hers I would see such pain that it would even make me hurt. I was unsuccessful. My eyes drifted over to the young lady, and then met hers. Dang it. For being such a tough-guy-mercenary I certainly was a sucker for the sad eyes of a woman. Dang sympathy. I sighed lightly, and then turned around. “Anyone check the garage yet?” I asked as I stared at the white painted door in front of me.

Veronica dashed pass me, and swung open the garage door. She turned back around, a twinkle of hope in her eyes. “His car is gone. He must have gone looking for me.”
I wanted to believe her, but I knew human nature a bit too well, and thus I knew that the fellow had probably left town. I knew I shouldn’t have said anything, but sometimes I simply don’t think before I speak. “You sure he didn’t leave the city?”
“No!” Veronica said angrily. “He wouldn’t do that! We love each other, and either one of us would sacrifice our self for the other.” Her once sorrowful eyes were now ablaze with rage, and were glaring right at me.
“Glad to hear that.” I said with a small grin. I put my knife away again, reloaded my handgun, and then held it at the ready after cocking it. “Cause you’ll probably end up doing so.” I said as I started for the front door. I could feel Veronica’s rage-filled eyes following me, and a minute chill ran up my spine.

The 3 of us came back outside, and right away Jason asked Veronica where we needed to search next. She said that Martin had probably gone to her apartment to find her, and that we needed to check there next, which meant we would have to work through the horde of zombies once more. Now here’s the kicker, not only were we going to have to try to get pass the mass again, but her apartment was practically on the other side of town. Yeah, Jason and I weren’t too thrilled about that.

Oh, ya mean because of Code: Veronica? :P

The crowd in the residential area had cleared a little, so we were able to get through without wasting ammunition. However, the mass was the least of our problems. About a quarter mile out of the residential area we were brought to a halt when we spotted a truly gruesome sight. Before us were 3 Dobermans feeding on the remains of a small girl. There were areas on them that looked like they had been badly attacked on account of the missing fur, skin, and flesh. On some parts I could see right to the bone. The dogs had been terribly torn up, possibly by the undead monsters roving about.

“Don’t move. Don’t make a sound.” I whispered to my comrades. I hoped that if we didn’t bother them, they wouldn’t bother us. I was wrong.
One of the dogs lifted his head, and sniffed a few times. He then started to lowly growl, and then gradually turned around to face us.
“Nice doggie. We’re not going to hurt you. Just…let us pass.” Am I trying to reason with an undead dog? I knew at the time that I only had a couple options. I could either try to kill them, or I could attempt to reason with them. So, I figured there was no point in using bullets if I didn’t have to. But, come on, I was trying to negotiate with an undead Doberman, what hope for success was there really?

Just as I suspected, the canine ran at me with rather impressive speed, and lunged at my upper body in an attempt to tackle me. However, the little beast wasn’t counting on the fact that I’d been loading my shotgun behind my back. I’d already cocked the weapon by the time the Doberman was halfway to me, and when he jumped at me I swung my firearm around, and blasted the small devilish hound to pieces.
Blood went everywhere, and I could see out of the corner of my eye that Veronica was wiping some off of her face. She looked at it in disgust, and then flicked it off her fingers onto the ground. “Thanks for that.” She said to me, obviously not meaning it at all.
I just rolled my eyes a bit as if to say: “Well, it was either that or I got ripped apart by a dog.” Which was precisely what was going through my head at that moment.

Naturally, the two others weren’t too happy about me killing their little friend. They growled and barked a little, and then they came in to kill.
I swung my shotgun back around to my rear, and then quickly drew my Beretta. I took aim for the one that was charging at Jason, but the thing was too fast. Just as I was about to fire at the demon-like dog it leapt to one side, and then dove at Jason before either one of us could line up a shot.
As Jason and I tried to kill the one canine I heard the Magnum being shot, followed by a thud that sounded like something hitting the asphalt.
The Doberman went to bite into Jason after taking him to the ground, but he wouldn’t have it. Before I got the chance to fire Jason had taken hold of the monster’s snout and head, and twisted it around until he snapped its neck. He shoved the dead dog off of him, and then speedily rose up.

“Everyone alright?” I asked as I looked from Jason to Veronica.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Veronica replied, her left hand on her hip, and her opposite hand holding onto the Magnum.
“I’m good.” Jason said with a nod as he took hold of his firearm.

I glanced around shortly, examining the creatures we had just defeated. Zombies, frog-like freaks without skin, giant spiders, and now we have to deal with undead dogs! I thought to myself, a bit frustrated with the whole situation. Like we didn’t have enough on our plates already.

Right after I released a sigh, I heard a most undesirable sound coming from behind us. Growling. I slowly turned my upper body to look behind me, and saw five more of the undead Dobermans glaring at us. It was clear that the small beasts had only one thing on their minds—hunt.

“Run!!” I screamed, and then bolted forward. Veronica and Jason stayed close, and glanced back at the dogs every one in a while. “Don’t look back! Just keep running!”

The barks were getting louder, which I figured meant that the undead dogs were gaining on us.

“Turn here!” Veronica exclaimed as she pointed to a street to her right.
The three of us raced down the road, and next thing we knew we were only a few yards away from a small horde of zombies. We were trapped. The Dobermans would be right behind us in only seconds, and with five of them, and 4 zombies we wouldn’t have much hope for survival.

Nice. Keep in mind that you need to add at least one or two hunters in the mix.

I probably will fairly soon :)

My mind raced at 100 miles a minute as we all came to a halt. I looked behind me, knowing that the dogs would be arriving any second now. Dang it! What do we do? Okay. Think! I looked around me, hoping to find a door, a fire escape, or anything that could get us out of there. Bingo! I shouted in my mind as I looked down at a manhole cover. “Jason, help me lift this thing!” I called out just before I shot the nearest zombie in the head. I quickly holstered my firearm, and started to try and lift the heavy plate of steel. With Jason’s assistance we picked up the manhole cover just in the nick of time.

“Guys!” Veronica yelled as she saw the undead Dobermans round the corner.
I looked at Ms. Diaz, and then followed her gaze and saw the group of vicious dogs coming for us. “Throw it at ‘em!” I shouted to Jason, and then the 2 of us chucked the steel cover at the Dobermans.
The manhole cover crashed into the face of the lead dog, and knocked it down, which in turn caused the dog behind it to trip and fall. However, there were still 3 charging at us.

“Get in!!” I ordered my companions as I drew my Beretta, and then started firing at the Dobermans. The little devils were quite quick, and managed to dodge most of my bullets, but I did succeed in slowing them down until my comrades had gotten into the tunnel. Once I looked behind me, and saw that Veronica and Jason were in I put my gun away, and started down the manhole as well.
Fortunately the zombies weren’t intelligent enough to climb down the ladder it seemed, or it could have been that their rotting limbs couldn’t support them on a ladder. Whatever the case, I was glad to see that our enemies did not follow us.

The three of us reached the bottom of the manhole, and found ourselves in the sewers. The place reeked like nothing I’d ever smelled before. The stench wasn’t simply foul, but rancid too, like the scent of an old corpse along with a never before cleaned public bathroom. Yeah. A dirty public bathroom with dead people in it—that’s the perfect way to describe how it smelt down there.

“Oh my…!” Veronica exclaimed as she put her hand to her nose to protect it from the horrible odor.
“I can taste it.” Jason said with disgust.
I personally didn’t much fancy the scent of the place, but the way I saw it, it was better to have to deal with the terrible stench for a few minutes, even an hour or so rather than being eaten by undead freaks. “Come on. Let’s find the next manhole and get out of here.” I said as I started walking down the sort of sidewalk we had landed upon.

Been a little busy lately, haven't had much time to write. Anyhow, here's the latest! Hope you enjoy it ;)

It wasn’t long, maybe a couple minutes after we started walking that I got an eerie feeling, like there was someone or something watching us. Usually I would dismiss such thoughts, but I knew in the situation we were in it was not only possible but also probable. As I continued down the path I glanced from left to right, but saw nothing suspicious.

The three of us went a little further, and then I stopped right where I was. I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were being watched.
“Something wrong?” Veronica asked as she and Jason came to a halt just behind me.
I looked around a little, and as I started to steer my eyes to look before me again I caught sight of something in the water. My eyes widened a bit as I looked at the scaly object. My first thought was that it was an alligator, but as I continued to look at the creature I saw that it didn’t have the same shape as a gator. “What is that?” I asked my companions as I pointed to the scaly entity in the water.
“I don’t know.” Jason said as he looked at the scales. His voice reflected confusion, fascination, and slight fear all at once.

Suddenly the entity we all had been observing burst forth from the water, and landed only a matter of feet in front of me. It was indeed a strange, and somewhat intimidating creature. Its body was covered in green scales that resembled that of a snake and/or alligator. Its posture was a bit of a cross between human and frog, and its head and neck looked to be some kind of cross-bread of a cobra and a frog of some sort. The creature stood on two feet, and had the hands and feet of a frog—only it had about 2-inch long claws at the end of every toe and finger. The beast was only about two-thirds my height, but regardless of its size it was quite a frightening being. The beast let out a loud, high-pitched cry, and showed its snake-like fangs.

I was taken aback by the abrupt arrival of the entity, and swiftly drew my handgun. “Move back.” I said to Jason and Veronica. I aimed the barrel of my 9mm at the beast as the 3 of us started to slowly move backward. What the devil is this thing? I asked myself mentally.
The creature then started to walk toward us. Every time we would take a step back, it would take two steps forward.
Alright then. You want us, you’re gonna have to fight for us. I thought, and then started firing upon the beast. My bullets didn’t appear to do a whole lot; they seemed to anger the thing more than they hurt it.
The enraged reptilian monster leapt forward, and tackled me to the ground.
“Son of a…!” I screamed angrily, and then put the end of my Beretta right into the creature’s side, and began firing all the while holding the beast at the neck to keep it from biting me. Some blood spattered on my shirt as I heard a loud bang come from above and behind me. It was at that very moment that the reptile’s body went limp. I shoved the monster off of me, and into the sewage water on my right.
“Are you okay?” Veronica asked as I rose up from the pavement.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” I replied as I turned around to look at her. I couldn’t help but notice the faint smoke that was emanating from the barrel of her gun, and then I knew it was her who killed the beast. “Thanks.” I added with a small smile.
“No problem.” She said with a grin.
“We should get moving. There might be more of those things.” Said Jason.
I gave the well-educated black man a nod, and then we started off again, looking for the nearest manhole.
