Thank you both very much. Hopefully this next bit will put you near the edge of your seat

We continued down the path until we soon came to see that we could go no further. Before us was a large steel gate that prevented us from going on.
I looked around a little until I spotted that on the other side of the tunnel there was another paved path. The other sidewalk-like area was just across the sewage water, so around 17 or 18-feet away. On the path was what appeared to be a hallway, so I concluded that there was a door over there. I could only hope that the door would take us to safety.

“What now?” Jason asked as he leaned back against the wall. “Looks like a dead end to me.”
“Looks can be deceiving.” I replied as I looked from Jason to Veronica, and then turned my head back to the other side of the tunnel. “I think there’s a door over there.”
“Oh yeah? Where?” Jason asked.
“There.” I answered as I pointed to the archway on the opposite side of the tunnel. Due to my angle I was unable to see inside the hall, and was thus unsure if there was anything pass it.
“Hey.” Veronica said softly in an attempt to get our attention.
Jason and I turned to her, and waited for her to go on. There was a brief moment where nothing was said, and then Veronica spoke once more.
“Do you hear that?” The young lady asked, and then slowly turned her head to the water.

I listened closely, trying to hear the sound that Veronica was referring to. My attention was suddenly drawn to the stream when I heard what sounded like something cutting through the water. My eyes drifted upstream, and then widened as I caught sight of three objects heading our way. I knew right away what they were, they were more of those mutant reptiles, I could tell because a portion of their back was sticking out of the water.

“Sounds like something moving in the water.” Jason stated as he turned to look at me.
“We need to move! Fast!” I exclaimed, knowing that if we stood still for much longer we would be in serious danger.
“What is it?” Jason asked, but soon got his answer without me having to say another word. Right after he spoke Veronica let out a cry, which turned his attention back to the water, where he saw the reptilian creatures. “Oh sh-” He started, but was cut short when one of the monsters jumped out of the water at him. The beast slammed him into the wall, and just as it was about to attack again it received a Magnum bullet in the side.
I acted as quick as I could, and started to load up my shotgun after holstering my Beretta. I loaded in 6 rounds, and then cocked the firearm. I took aim at the creature’s head, and fired. “Run!” I ordered after the mutated reptile had fallen dead on the pavement.

The 3 of us took off the way we had come, heading for the archway. I could hear the other two reptiles jumping out of the water behind us, but didn’t dare turn around to look. We came to a halt when we came before the archway, and I cast a quick glance to my left to see how close the beasts were. They were at a safe distance for the time being, but it would only take a few seconds for them to reach us.

“How do we get across?!” Jason asked in a panic.
“How do you think?!” I replied in a bit of a fright myself. I drew my 9mm from its holster, and held both of my firearms above my head as I quickly stepped into the water. I knew it was dangerous to be entering the reptiles’ territory, but we had little choice. I heard the other two enter the water behind me, and then turned my head to look back at them for a short moment. It was in that moment that I saw that the mutant reptiles weren’t the only things we had to worry about. On the wall behind us was another one of those oversized spiders, and when I turned to look in front of me I saw that there was another one waiting for us above the hall.
“We’re trapped!” Veronica shouted with fear in her tone.

Thank you both very much :) This next part I just had to put in there, mainly because I feel most people can relate with it (I know I can).

Alright Ben, think fast! I mentally said to myself. My eyes darted over my left shoulder as I heard two splashes—the reptiles had dove into the water. We were, indeed, trapped, but like they always say: where there is a will, there is a way. And my will to survive was far greater than the fear I felt for the creatures trying to kill us. I pressed the butt of the double barrel shotgun against my chest, and cocked it just before I passed it back to Veronica. “Magnum!!” I ordered, and the young woman took the shotgun, and placed the revolver in my hand. I held my Beretta in my right hand, and the powerful revolver in my left as I took aim at the large spider before me. I continued toward the archway, though the nearly waist-deep sewer water hindered me. I pulled back on the hammer of the Magnum, and started firing upon the giant arachnid with both guns. After a few shots from my 9mm, and 3 shots from Jason’s revolver, the spider fell to the floor, and its legs curled in signifying it was deceased. “C’mon!!” I shouted to my companions as I raced toward the hallway.

I heard a loud, screechy cry coming from behind me, and turned my head just in time to see Veronica blasting one of the reptiles away with the shotgun. Once I got onto the pavement I holstered my Beretta, and extended my hand to Veronica to help her up. As I pulled Ms. Diaz up onto the walkway I saw that Jason was trying to keep the monsters back by firing a few bullets into them with the fully automatic riffle he was wielding.
“Dudley!” I called out to get Jason’s attention.
The African-American fellow ran over to the paved path, and gave me his right hand to help him up.
I pulled Jason up onto the path, and in the nick of time drew my handgun and fired 3 shots into the last of the reptiles as it jumped out of the water. The beast crashed into the sewage, and I holstered my firearm. “Load this.” I said as I handed the Magnum back to Veronica, and she returned to me the shotgun. Just as I turned to walk into the archway I heard an already too familiar sound, the sound of something cutting through water. I turned to my right, and saw two more of those vile reptilian beings coming for us. “You have got to be kidding.” I said feeling quite frustrated. “Let’s move!” I jumped over the dead spider, but went only a few feet in. I waited to hear the footsteps of Jason & Veronica before I started to run, once I heard them land behind me I took off down the hall with the double barrel shotgun in my grasp.

The three of us ran for everything we were worth, knowing that those monsters would be after us. We went a good distance in before we nearly passed a steel door on our left. I skidded to a halt, and grabbed the handle with my left hand. The stupid thing wouldn’t turn, and those reptiles were gaining on us. I gave a frightened glance to the creatures, and then rushed down the tunnel-like hallway with Veronica & Jason close behind.
I heard someone jiggling a door handle, and stopped to see that Veronica had located yet another door.
“Locked!” She exclaimed, and the three of us were off again.

My companions and I slid to a stop when we found ourselves smack dab in the middle of a small horde of undead. I cocked the shotgun, and fired at some of the monsters at close range, killing about 3 of them while Jason unloaded the remainder of his magazine.
“Oh no.” I heard the middle-aged teacher mutter with fear as the horrible clicking sound emanated from his riffle as he pulled the trigger.
I put the strap that was connected to the shotgun around me, drew my handgun, and fired the last bullet of my current magazine into the head of the zombie nearest to Jason. I took aim at the last one, pulled the trigger, and all I got was a lousy click. “Dang it!”
“I’ve got him!” Veronica yelled, and blasted the last zombie away with the revolver she had just reloaded.
Now that the crowd of undead was gone, my mind was a little clearer, and I acknowledged all of my surroundings. Behind us was the path that led to the sewer water, and where we were at that time was another path that went horizontal with the one we had just been on. I looked to my left, and saw a rusty steel door. I ran to the door, and tried the handle, but the thing wouldn’t budge. The knob turned fine, but it was like there was something blocking it on the other side. I pressed the small button on my Beretta that released the magazine, and let the empty cartridge hit the floor. “Doesn’t anything open in this city?!” I shouted angrily as I turned to Jason & Veronica while loading in a fresh magazine.

Awesome! More readers :D Thanks for the compliments everyone ;) Here's the latest:

I turned to the path we had come down, and saw that the reptilian beasts were still coming for us.
“Which way do we go?” Jason asked as he loaded in another magazine for his riffle.
Somewhere along the way I had become the leader of our little group it seemed. I’m not sure how it happened, but I guess it makes no difference as to how. I looked to my left, and saw a lift several feet pass Jason, however, I could tell by the lack of illumination around it that it was without power. I then looked to my right and saw an iron door in the distance. Thank the great Lord above. I thought as I gazed upon the door. “This way!” I said loudly, and then rushed toward the door. Please, please be unlocked. I prayed silently as me and my comrades ran from the monsters seeking to devour us.

I was hardly able to keep myself from slamming into the iron I was going so fast. I cast my eyes upon what lay behind me, and saw that the monsters were right on our tails, and the massive arachnid had joined them.
“Open the door!!” I heard Jason exclaimed as he came running toward me with Veronica at his side.
I grabbed the handle, and turned it, and as I did a faint smile crossed my lips. I shoved the door open, and quickly went inside. Veronica & Jason soared right pass me as I positioned myself behind the door. I holstered my firearm as I started to close the door, and just as I did one of the reptiles lodged itself in the doorway. “Son of a…! Jason!” I cried out as I did my best to keep the monster from entering.
My male companion reacted swiftly, and started firing upon the reptilian mutant, causing it to retreat enough for me to close the iron door. I took a step back, and saw that on the door was an oblong steel bar that could slide across into a metal handle on the wall. I wasted no time, and took hold of a decent-sized cylindrical bar that stuck out from the larger bar, and pulled it to the right, thus forcing the sizable piece of iron through the handle.

I took a few steps back, standing only a few small feet away from Jason. Still the beasts tried to enter. They clawed away at the iron, and screamed with animalistic rage.

“Do you think it will hold?” Jason asked calmly.
“Yeah. It’ll hold.” I replied without ever taking my eyes off of the door.
“They’re hunters.” Said Jason.
That got my attention. “Come again?” It was the way he said it that made me feel like he knew more than he was telling.
“Unlike those zombies roaming about, these things actually search for their food.” We briefly made eye contact, possibly for the first time, as he said: “They hunt.”
“Oh.” I let out, and then turned around to see Veronica had located something most interesting—a weapons box, a rather large one at that.

I took a moment to look around the room, mainly to make sure we hadn’t just trapped ourselves. The room was a good size, about 30+ square in each direction. It was rather bare, though. Just a metal fold-up table and a couple chairs in the center, some control panels to the left of where we had entered, and a weapons box at the far wall. I let out a small sigh of relief when my eyes landed on the steel door a good nine or ten feet to the right of the box.

“Hey, what do you suppose this is doing here?” Jason asked from my left.
I turned to see what he was talking about, and then saw an old typewriter with an ink ribbon lying next to it. I walked over to the middle-aged teacher, and looked down at the typewriter that sat on a small table much like the one in the middle of the room, only much littler. “I don’t know.” I said with a shrug as I looked to Jason.
As Veronica continued to rummage through the weapons box I went over to the table while removing my backpack. I tossed the backpack onto the table, and then took a seat. I unzipped the largest pocket, and pulled out my diary and a pen. I opened it up to my last entry, and quickly started to write down all that had happened to me in the past few days.

Only a matter of minutes after I started writing Veronica dropped a case of shotgun shells and a box of handgun ammo right next to my diary. I smiled at the ammunition, and then at the young Hispanic woman. “And it’s not even my birthday.” I joked a little, and Veronica gave a slight giggle before walking away. I returned to my writing, and it was at that moment that I noticed the monsters had stopped trying to get in. Why did they stop? I asked myself. I don’t know why the creatures ceased in their attempt to get in, but like an old friend once told me: “Don’t question good fortune.”

Just today I started reading it and I read 3 pages already, an A rank story. At the beginning of the story there were no monsters in the city, don't blank the details of this thought, finish the idea, explain the situation. Though there is one weak point,  why did he have to go to a bar for wesky, not a cafe for  juice or coffee? And remebers that the last time he drank such good juice/coffee was before sending him to Germany? Cause liquirs are pure icky.

Well, the deal with the whiskey is to be explained much later on. I do like your input relating to the lack of monsters in the beginning. I may go back and add a bit more detail to the start of it, perhaps a brief description of the city, or something :)
@Azy: Lemme know what it's called an' I'll check it out ;)

I rolled my head around, popping my neck quite a few times after I was finished writing. I looked to Jason who was examining the control panels in the room, and asked: “What time is it getting to be?”
“About eight O’ clock.” He replied without taking his eyes off the screens.
I figured there must have been a clock on one of the computer screens he was staring at so intensely. I packed the ammo and my diary away, zipped up my backpack, and then went over to the controls. I gave a quick apathetic look to the screens, and then turned my head to Jason. “Looks to me like they’re for water flow regulation.”
“Most likely.” Jason responded blandly before moving over to one of the chairs to have a seat.

“So what do we do now?” Veronica asked as she sat upon the large, steel weapons box.
“We keep moving. Try to find another way out of the sewers.” I answered as I turned my attention to my female companion. “Then we try to get to your apartment to find Martin.”
She only gave a small nod, but I could tell by the look in her eyes that she was determined. She was ready to risk her life out there to find the man she cared for. I wasn’t sure if I should admire her for bravery and devotion, or denounce her for utter foolishness.
“Alright then.” Jason said as he rose up, his gun in hand. “Let’s move out.”
I nodded a single time at Jason, and then grabbed my backpack off the table. I slipped my arms through the straps, and then drew my Beretta as I started toward the door nearest to the weapons box. I cracked the door open just enough for me to see out. I looked into the dimly lit hallway, and saw 3 zombies wearing blue jumpsuits loafing only a couple yards away. Luckily, their backs were to me, and they couldn’t see me peeking out. “We’ve got a few zombies only yards outside the door.” I whispered to Jason & Veronica. “Be ready.” The two nodded a little, and readied their firearms as we prepared to re-enter horror that had overtaken the once peaceful city.

I stepped back a little bit, and kicked the door all the way open. I took two large steps forward, and started firing at the monsters before me. I shot down all three in only a matter of seconds, but they were the least of our troubles. From just around the corner came a pair of oversized tarantulas. At that moment I heard dozens of shots being fired from my right, and looked to see Jason blasting away at the massive bugs. Only hours ago the man had been about as jumpy as a crack-head in a room full of cops, and now he was nearly fearless. It’s interesting what life or death situations can do to a person. The creatures let out an odd cry upon dying, their legs curling in toward their underbelly.

“Well done.” I said to Jason, and then we continued onward.
We turned left down the one-way hall, and saw something that usually wouldn’t excite us much, but under the circumstances it was as though we were looking at Jacob’s ladder, even though in reality it was just a regular ladder. True, what awaited us above was far from Heaven, but at least we wouldn’t have to deal with the previously named “hunters”. Hopefully, we wouldn’t have as many encounters with those giant spiders, as well.
“I’ll go up first, and scout the situation out. If everything’s okay I’ll let you know, but if you don’t hear anything from me in more than three minutes you need to find another way up.” I said commonly, and then holstered my handgun. I started up the ladder, bracing myself for the worst, but hoping for the best. I forced the manhole cover up, and back to where I could climb out. I poked my head out first, checking for any immediate danger, and then fully exited after seeing no direct threat. I took a looked around, and saw that somehow we’d ended up right in front of the police station. It looked perfectly safe, in fact, I couldn’t even hear the moans of the undead. Wow. Someplace that’s actually safe. I thought with a grin, and turned around. I got on my knees, and yelled down the manhole, “It’s good! Come on up!”
