Resident Evil Outbreak Story: Desperation Part 6

    Monday, November 16, 2009, 06:13 PM [General]

No one said anything for a moment, since they knew David wasn't very vocal at this point. Mark looked at Bob and nodded at his consciousness. David's facial expression adjusted as he noted a smell in the air.

    David: Something burning?

As David said that, the door next to him opened up. Alyssa stepped out and Kevin followed behind her. David slightly turned his head and eyes in their direction. Alyssa walked to Yoko's direction before stopping to make sure everyone was accounted for. Kevin stopped right next to David and turned to look at him.

Kevin: You had to have smelled that bird barbecue, right?
    David: Something like that.
Kevin: We cooked some crows. They looked infected.
Alyssa: You mean I cooked some crows.
Kevin: Right. It was her idea to grab some pesticide spray and use a lighter to make a torch.
    David: Smart.
Mark: I see you found a shotgun.
Alyssa: Uh huh. Sure did. We did have a lead pipe at one point though.
Kevin: Yup, but it slipped right out of my hand.
    Alyssa: Right. It slipped.

Yoko remembered what she found as she reflected on the key word Kevin said.

Yoko: A lighter…? Do you still have it, Alyssa?
Alyssa: Yeah. I still have plenty of pesticide spray too.

Yoko removed her backpack, walked over to the desk that once had the nail gun, and placed her pack on the table. She unzipped the pack and pulled out a bottle of wine and some newspaper.

Alyssa: Ah, I see your plan. Nice find.
Yoko: Thank you. I'm glad someone has a lighter.
David: We're still missing a few others.
Kevin: All right. Guess we wait then.

Yoko placed her items back into the backpack and pulled out the nail gun she found.

Yoko: I can't use this, so would anyone else like to have this nail gun?
Kevin: Not enough firepower for me.
Alyssa: I already have a shotgun that takes up both arms.
Mark: Bob and I already own standard issue guns.
    David: … Eh.

Jim turned to look at Yoko and quickly took up her offer.

    Jim: Sure. I'll take it.
    Yoko: All right, great.

Jim walked over to Yoko and put his hand out. She placed the nail gun in his hand and nodded at him using it. Yoko had minor sweat on her hands, so she rubbed her hands on her pants once. It was then that she realized she found something else after getting the newspaper. She dug into her pocket and pulled out a key with a blue tag.

    Yoko: Oh, right… Hey, Kevin?
    Kevin: Yeah?
Yoko: I found this key… it might go to something.
Kevin: Let's see this key then.

Kevin walked over to Yoko and she handed the key to him. He stared at the tag and it read "Wine room staircase."

    Kevin: Wine room staircase?

Before he got to think any further, a door opened. George walked out first and Cindy followed, shutting the door behind her. Kevin stopped focusing on the key and walked over to their direction. George noticed Kevin walking towards them. Cindy also took note of this as she stood next to George.

Kevin: Did you guys find anything of use in there?
George: We did. Cindy has everything we gathered.
Kevin: Really? Is it in that belt pack?
    Cindy: Yes.
Kevin: Off the bat, I can spot a broken stick and some first aid.
Cindy: Inside I have a kitchen knife and a stun gun.
Kevin: Those are useful. Nice finding guys.

David noted what Cindy had and lightly pushed himself from the wall. He made his way to where George and Cindy were talking and stood next to Kevin.

    Kevin: Something up?
David: Cindy, can you hand me that broken stick and kitchen knife?
    Cindy: …Ok.

Cindy pulled out the broken stick and handed it to David. She unzipped her belt pack and took out the kitchen knife. She carefully handed it to him. David placed the broken stick in his front pocket and removed the already loose handle from the kitchen knife. He pulled the broken stick out of his pocket and forced the kitchen knife to have a new, longer handle. He knew his creation wouldn't hold without the help of his duck tape, so he took the duck tape out of his tool belt. He wrapped the tape around his creation as tightly as he could in layers. Cindy was in awe of his resourceful creation. David looked at her expression before telling her about it.

David: It's a spear. The handle is short, but you run a less risk of getting bit when using it.
    Cindy: Oh.
    Kevin: Nice.

David placed his duck tape back into his tool belt and handed his spear to Cindy. She took it from him gently and spun it around in her hand slowly.

    Cindy: Thank you.
    David: … Right.

David turned around, took a few steps, and leaned on the wall a few feet from where Kevin, George, and Cindy were standing. Cindy followed his movements before focusing on Kevin again. She noticed something in his hand.

    Cindy: What's that?
Kevin: Oh this? It's a key. Yoko found it. It says something about a Wine Room staircase.
Cindy: I know where it goes. May I?
    Kevin: Sure.

Kevin handed Cindy the key and she walked over to the door Mark and Bob were standing in front of.

    Cindy: Excuse me.
    Mark: No problem.

Mark moved out of the way with Bob and turned to look at the door Cindy was at. She used the key on the door and opened the lock.

    Cindy: It's open.
Kevin: Well, we can guess that this is the only place left to go. Since we all searched each area except this one.
    Alyssa: Yeah. Let's go.
Kevin: Wait a minute. Let me clear it out first.

Kevin walked over to the door and gestured Cindy to move out of the way. She moved and Kevin removed his gun from the holster. He placed his hand on the doorknob. Turning the door slowly, he pushed the door open. Kevin forced the door to touch the end of the wall to ensure nothing was behind it. He shot his attention to the top of the stairs while aiming his gun up.

    Kevin: All clear.
    Alyssa: Oh my hero.
    Kevin: Whaaatever.

Kevin walked back out to everyone and gestured everyone to go in. Mark and Bob went in and upstairs first. Yoko, Cindy, Alyssa and George followed. David stayed leaning on the wall a few feet from the door. Jim was about to follow everyone, but stopped to look at David. Kevin was also staring at him.

    Jim: Something up, David?
    David: Yeah.
    Kevin: We miss something?
David: The way we came. I don't think our barricade will hold up long enough for us to escape. We should block this doorway with those.

Kevin and Jim followed David's finger as he pointed at a pile of planks.

Kevin: You're right. Jim, give me your nail gun.
    Jim: Aw, really? Fine.

Resident Evil Outbreak Story: Desperation Part 5

    Wednesday, November 11, 2009, 05:48 PM [General]

Cindy dropped the lock on the floor and opened her locker. George didn't want to see inside her locker out of respect, so he just stood in waiting. Cindy was shuffling through her locker and grabbed a few things. She slowly closed the locker and turned to face George.

    George: What's the status?
Cindy: I have a battery powered Stun gun and a first aid antiseptic spray.
George: I see you have an elaborate belt bag.
Cindy: Yes. I was going to use this for my vacation…
George: Those are very useful. You will be a good asset to our survival.
    Cindy: Thank you.
George: I still have to search the other side of this room. You can assist if you want.
    Cindy: All right.

Cindy placed her stun gun in her belt bag and her first aid antiseptic in the bottle storage portion of the bag. George nodded and smiled as he turned and walked to search the other lockers. Cindy followed his movements before turning to the left as he went to the right. Both were pulling on the lockers in hopes of it opening. George opened a locker first and pulled out a broken broomstick about one foot in height.

    George: It might be useful…

George closed the locker while holding the broken broomstick in his left hand. He then moved on to the next locker. Cindy finally got a locker open and spotted a bit of a mess. There was note sized papers, some empty water bottles, a tissue box, and below that box was a kitchen knife. Cindy moved the tissue box and took the kitchen knife before closing the locker.

    Cindy: I found a knife…

George pulled on his last locker and stopped his searching, as it didn't open. He looked over to Cindy and noted the kitchen knife in her hand.

George: I see you found an adequate weapon.
    Cindy: Yes, I did.
George: I only found this broken stick. It looks sturdy enough to be used as a blunt weapon.
Cindy: Did you want me to hold that?
    George: All right. Thank you.
    Cindy: It's no bother.

Cindy placed the kitchen knife in her belt bag and then grabbed the broken broomstick from George's hand. Oddly enough, the stick fit perfectly in the pencil/pen holder on her belt pack.

    George: That is very useful.
Cindy: This was an expensive belt pack and I'm glad it is finally in use. I just wish it could have been in a better situation…
George: You are using it to the fullest of its potential. Our situation is dire, but it couldn't be in better use in the current state of things.
Cindy: You're right. I should think more positively.
George: That is the best approach.

Cindy and George noticed they were done with almost all the lockers. Both of them had one remaining to search and they both unknowingly reached for the same locker.

George: How embarrassing. Please, go ahead.
Cindy: I guess we searched too fast (Embarrassed chuckle).

George took a few steps back and gave Cindy room to stand in front of the locker. Cindy placed her hand on the locker handle and pulled.

    Cindy: Oh… it's locked.
George: That's quite all right. We should get back to the others as quick as possible. I believe we have gotten enough items here.
    Cindy: I agree. Let's go…

George walked first and Cindy followed him to the exiting door. George turned the knob casually and opened the door.

(Everyone meets up again at small time differences)

Yoko looked at the table she recently took the newspaper from and noticed a key with a blue tag. She reached down and picked it up.

Yoko: I wonder what this is for?

She placed the key in her pocket and turned around to walk back to Mark.

    Yoko: Hey, Mark?
    Mark: Yeah?
Yoko: Do you have a lighter?
    Mark: I don't smoke. Bob?
Bob: Sorry… I have one at home, but we can't go there anymore…
    Yoko: That's ok. Um…

Yoko turned her attention to where Jim was standing. Jim was standing and facing towards the hallway leading back down to J's Bar. He had his lucky coin in his hand, as he prepared to flip it again. Yoko walked behind Jim and stood a few feet away from him. Jim tossed his coin in the air.

    Yoko: Jim?

Jim was startled a bit and his coin dropped to the ground.

Yoko: Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be so abrupt.
    Jim: ****. It's ok.

Jim kneeled down, picked up his coin, and put it back in his pocket. He turned around to face Yoko and stared at her for a moment.

    Jim: What's up?
Yoko: You wouldn't happen to have a lighter, would you?
    Jim: Nah.
    Yoko: Darn. Thanks anyway.
Jim: If I find one, I'll let ya know ok?
    Yoko: Ok, thanks.

Jim shrugged and turned his attention back to the hallway to which they came from. Yoko turned around and walked a bit before stopping. At this point, all they could do was wait for the others. The door on the far end opened up as David walked out and shut the door behind him. David turned to where the others were standing and walked over to them without word. He stopped before passing the door Kevin and Alyssa were investigating and leaned on the wall with his arms crossed. Everyone but Jim followed his movements before he leaned on the wall.

    Mark: Did you find anything?
    David: Yeah. A survival knife.
    Mark: All right.

Part 6 is in the works.

No, I remember it clearly. The guy was trying to blow me up; I wrote his tag down just to make sure I wouldn't fall for that old barrel crap again (I'd just look at the name and get into the action of doing him in instead of him doing me in).

He sort of improved a bit since you last saw him, as he held fire on the grenades until I got down enough to get near a barrel (which would increase the likelyhood of me getting it).

They're worth checking out. They're an Australian band...very cool. I think their best album was Begins Here...just personally. The lead singer; Clint Boge, he has a really strong, beautiful voice.
