I've recently bought Resident Evil REmake and Resident Evil 2 for the gamecube to play on my Wii and, I have to say, I'm enjoying the experience of horror again. I like being scared having played and owned Resident Evil: DS, Code Veronica X, Resident Evil 4, and Outbreak File 1. As of now, Code Veronica is my favorite followed by RE 4, but maybe it'll change after I beat REmake and RE 2.
On the down side, RE 5 was both a disappointment and fun at the same time. I know a paradox. After beating RE 5 a couple of days after March 13 and beating it again a second time, I was disappointed by the story and, for some reason, I'm noticing that the length of the game is shorter then RE 4, (or maybe there was alot less going on in RE 5 than in RE 4). Anyway, the story is the main reason for buying games. It 's what keeps me attached to my games and makes me want to play them over and over, like Indigo Prophecy, the Silent Hill series, God of War.
I wanted a new experience with RE 5, having bought Killzone 2 back in Feburary, so action wasn't what I was looking for. Please Capcom do better with the story for the next Resident Evil. And as a added note, it's okay by me if there are relationships between characters. That partner stuff in RE 5 really put me off. Chris/Jill ALL THE WAY!!!!Also the gameplay and multiplayer aspects were fun and I realize that the added stuff probably shorten the length of the main game.
On a good note, it's good that you experiment with your series and continue to do so. I was there when you made Devil May Cry *cough* 2 *cough* and you listened to us and made DMC 3, which was awesome. But RE 5's disappointment made me think of Konami's slip-up with Silent Hill 4, in which their experimenting had way more potential story-wise than the finished product they sold. This is the same with RE 5.
And I almost forgot, the big debate about the enemies. Umm... I don't mind having the Ganados/Majinis as enemies and I understand that bring back the zombies wouldn't be a real challenge with kind of camera angle and the control system that the recent games have. But the only thing I don't like is throwing enemies and bosses at us without explaining why. In RE 4, the bosses were few and had a reason for being there, mutated and all their glory, but in RE 5 I kept asking myself why is this monster here, why did Irving inject himself knowing the affects and that he wouldn't be making a profit or returning to business afterwards. Also did Wesker really think the Uroboros plan out (It had alot of holes that could result in 1) The Uroboros monsters wreaking havoc everywhere or merging into one and destroying the Earth or 2) Everyone dies and Wesker is left to rule by himself with no way of reproducing.) There's alot more wrong with it but I won't go into it. Me being a science major, with genetics being my favorite, I question everything, so maybe later on I'll write what Wesker should have done to rid the world of humanity. Let's just say never let a parasite do a virus' job. (I know the Uroboros is a virus, but viruses don't look like that and they don't work together.) Anyway I'm through rambling. Look out for my take on what Wesker should have done. Coming out after all these test are over.
On the other side: Thanks to RagingDemon015, my first commenter, for giving me a waterfall of inspiration to blog. ^_^
