Q&A Session #19

Aug 17, 2012 // Yuri Araujo

Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoaki Ayano-san sent over another blog for you here. This time, he answers various questions, including a possible solution to the excessive number of Time Over match results. Let’s see what he has to say:

Hello everyone, Tomoaki Ayano here!

Over here in Japan, the rain isn’t letting up at all. Apparently in western Japan they’ve been experiencing record rainfalls, and it’s been so bad that entire rivers are swelling up and overflowing with rainwater. If you’re in Japan, be careful out there!

We’ve gotten a lot of comments from our fans since the last time we ran a Q&A blog, so I decided that we should go ahead and answer some of the most popular questions. So without further adieu, here’s Q&A blog #19!

Q: I want to know more details about the game balance and new characters!

Please check out previous blogs that we written on UNITY!

New challengers release date confirmed! www.capcom-unity.com/street_fighter/blog… )

Introducing Dudley, Elena, Lars and Alisa! www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2012/… )

Introducing Cody, Guy, Lei and Christie! www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2012/… )

Introducing Sakura, Blanka, Bryan and Jack-X! www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2012/… )

Changes related to gameplay balance were listed, but one of them was accidentally left out, so here it is:

â– Paul

HP Phoenix Smasher has been changed from -5 to -9 on block.

Q: I want to see a move list for the new characters!

Sorry for taking so long with this! We’re putting the finishing touches on it. We’ll have all of the characters, including the new ones listed, so please wait just a little bit longer.

Q: I want to know the release schedule for the upcoming DLC.

Color palettes, etc. will also be available soon along with Gems, so please look forward to them!

Q: How will you deal with the Time Over situation?

Instead of extending the length of the matches themselves, we’re looking into balancing the characters, as well as the speed at which recoverable life replenishes as a means to deal with this issue.

Q: Will there be any new costumes soon?

Aside from the Swap costumes that have already been released, we’re also readying Alternate costumes. Once we decide on a schedule for their release, we’ll update the official site as well as post a notice on this blog.

Q: Hugo is way too strong!

Rather than just nerfing a single character, we’re looking into balancing the entire cast. We’re doing this with the 12 new characters as well as their combos and footsies games, so study up on the entire cast and try them out!

Q: The new special colors are too bright!

Sorry if the colors bother your eyes…

We wanted our fans to have a variety of colors to use when customizing their characters, and that’s why we added those new colors. But believe me when I say that we understand what our fans are feeling.

Q: When are you going to do the next balance update?

For the next balance update we want to make sure we do a bang-up job with it, so we can’t say when right now. For the time being, please enjoy the latest version, which was made available on July 31 st.

Q: When is a new Darkstalkers coming out?!

Actually, last month, Japan had a special holiday known as the Star Festival where I prayed to the gods with a wish:

“I really want to play a new Darkstalkers game!”

What do you guys think of mine?

Q: Do you have a list of the voice cast in SFXT?

Like I wrote in my earlier blog, we’re still moving ahead with our balance tweaks, so we’re hoping everyone will look forward to it! As far as when the balance update goes live, and what kind of balancing we’ll be doing, I’ll post an update in my blog as soon as I’m allowed to.

That’s it for this week, thanks for reading!
