Welcome back Capcom Unity part 1: Home page and You

Sep 12, 2012 // Yuri Araujo

Welcome back Capcom Unity !

We missed you… really. But now we’re back, and I’m glad to see you’re coming back as well. =) I realize everything has changed (and nobody likes ch ange, lol) but some things stayed exactly the same. You know, we <3 you guys which is why we wanted to make a new site anyways.

So you’re probably lost, so let’s take a quick look at the essentials of the NewCapcom Unity page!

EDIT : part 2  and part 3 are up.

Let’s start with the home page, shall we?

The first thing you may notice is the huge carousel of articles scrolling in the center of the page: that’s The Awesome – we’ll now be updating it more frequently with “Awesome” content.

Next, you’ll see there are only three blog articles being shown. They are always the last three news articles posted in our Official Capcom Blog. Fear not – the rest of them are just a click away. There’s that nice big MORE NEWS button below, as well as the NEWS button on the blue bar up top; but you already knew that, so it’s not news anymore.

Recent and upcoming releases can found on your left-hand side, as well as special offers from our own Capcom Store .

On the right side, if you’re logged in, you’ll find you . Clicking on your screen-name or profile picture will take you directly to your page… always! If you’re not logged in, please do so, or register.

Moving on, say you clicked on your profile. It should look somewhat like this, plus or minus a few things. Anyways, look out: there are feeds everywhere ! Forum activity feed below your profile picture, Media and Blog uploads to the right of it. And the general feed taking up the main chunk of the page. It’s all about you (-nity?)! Please know that when you visit other users’ pages, it will look very similar AND you can interact with most things on the general feed.

Speaking of interactions, remember that envelope icon on the top right corner when you’re thinking about sending a Private Message or Reporting a bad user. One more thing, I wonder what’s up with that MORE INFO tab below your profile pic…

“So far, we’ve covered where to see things, where’s the stuff I can do ?” Good question! Well, start with your profile. Have you updated it recently? Here’s a good chance. Mouse over stuff and “change” options will show up, so you can change stuff. It’s also a good idea to hit up that Settings tab and set up your different accounts. Then you’ll be able to Tweet and/or update your Facebook from Unity whenever you update that quote area or your status update, from your Dashboard.

Wait, DASHBOARD ? That sounds cool! And it is, in fact, cool! Look, from your Dashboard you can add blog posts, photos, status updates, view your forum activity, favorites, events calendar, 15 latest news from our Capcom Blog, and even the occasional System Messages, where important info will be communicated to you. In addition, there’s the main feed, pulling data from your Friends , groups , Media (from the entire site) and the new Explore Unity, in which you get a feed of EVERYTHING that’s going on at Capcom Unity. It’s an awesome way to find new stuff, make new friends, and spend a whole Saturday afternoon.

Speaking of which, why don’t you go explore the site for a while? Please poke around and have a good time. If you find ANYTHING that is weird, wrong, doesn’t work, etc. please pull up that FEEDBACK tab from the right side of the page and let us know. Seriously, we want to make sure you enjoy the site, so please let us know what you think either through the Feedback button or on the Forums .

Also, huge thanks to Tom for pulling this all together! We can’t thank him enough!

We’ll be back tomorrow with more info on the new Unity. =)
