The 'my favorite capcom experiences' thread

    Tuesday, June 17, 2008, 05:51 AM [General]

Hi I'm Nick, long time capcom blog lurker, first time poster.

This thread is for you to document all the moments in Capcom games that have made you feel a bit light headed with joy over the years. Any games from any year.

For me, when I first heard the intro music to SF2 my heart started racing with excitement -to this day it still does the trick. Also the music on the character select screen gets my adrenaline glands pumping with a sort of nervous tension that shouldn't really be enjoyable (but is), that I've yet to find in any other game. I have to say the CPS 1 music still does it the best.

The first time I started running around that mall in Dead Rizsing was also pretty special - it signified the start of weeks of hilarity with the game as me and my frien Adam attempted to get to the genuine end of the game. The satisfaction when we made it was also higly memorable.

I'd love to hear about your greatest Capcom moments, please go ahead and share, and give me something to smile about at work.

    Nick

It's perfectly all right. I didn't even know Project Justice existed until back then, and I had to do frantic scouring to try to get the Japanese version after hearing about the board game being cut.

If it's the one on Dreamcast, then that's Project Justice, the game I was talking about. It even had the subtitle "Rival Schools 2" in Europe. :D

It's roughly the same port as the US's, except Virgin Interactive published it, and it has that subtitle. I think a couple translations are different too but that's about it. It's also missing the board game mode just like the US's version.

Yeah, Project Justice got a limited release (about 50,000 copies or so) for the Dreamcast back in May 2001. The game's ports have weird histories--the Japanese DC version, Moero! Justice Gakuen, was ported straight from the NAOMI hardware, and kept all the same bugs.

Capcom added a board game mode to it that replaced the School Life Sim mode from Rival Schools, Evolution, and Seishun Nikki 2. It has the same function; you make a character and level him/her up.

Back in 2001, when Capcom was preparing to release Project Justice for America, they reached a roadblock since the deadline was so short. They had to cut out the board game mode, but they put about 25 pre-made characters in to make up for it. This also explains why there were so few copies of the game made.

Also, since the game had come out in Europe a month before, and for the equivalent of 30 US dollars, Capcom USA decided to make the US Dreamcast version only 20 bucks, to make up for losing the board game and for Europe getting the game sooner.

But yeah, it's a heavily underrated game, and is a worthy sequel to Rival Schools. Please try it out if you find it.
