My favourite title on the N64 will always be Mario Tennis.

N64 Games have aged horrifyingly poorly. I'd argue it's one of the worst "mainstream" systems to have ever been released, considering I only liked most games for it "for the time" (i.e. the multiplayer ones like Turok 2/Rage Wars, Perfect Dark, GoldenEye, etc.), and I didn't like many of its smash hits even back in the day (I seriously think and have always thought Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 are awful games). It hardly had any lasting appeal (unlike the NES and SNES before it, both of which I still adore) and the graphics were horrendously ugly, even for the time. I actually liked the controller, however, and it did have Mischief Makers, Star Fox 64, and F-Zero X, so it wasn't all bad.
Edit: To people saying that calling it ugly doesn't make sense because it's old... No. It is perfectly acceptable to call it ugly. The N64 had terrible looking games for the time and they're just as much an eyesore today as they were then. You can't compare it to the SNES or NES because they had 2D graphics that could at least resemble something pleasing to the eyes (I'd be okay if you called Atari-age consoles ugly), but the N64 was a terrible way to jump into 3D and I'm ashamed people fell for the gimmick of 3D graphics so quickly that 2D gaming began to wither significantly within a single generation.

In all fairness though, PS1 graphics look equally bad by today's standards. Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 look about as good as Final Fantasy VIII and Soul Reaver. But yea, the lack of space on Silicon carts really didn't help the N64 back then. Amazing to think that even DS games use larger carts than the N64 did (and look considerably better in some cases). |

It is. I sometimes miss seeing dual around as much becaue there isn't someone who isn't afraid to say what needs ot be said. Dual is that person, and when the S*** hits the fan, Dual's there to tell people what is on his/her mind in the most semingly logic way paossible.
I enjoyed the N64. Mischief makers...Good memories, but sadly, i was never able to get far back then. Haven't played it since, and i want to so badly. Ocorania of Time... Man that Giant ass fish... Hated that boss. Enjoyable game. I never caed for golden eye much. If theres one thing the 64 wasn't meant to play, its FPS. ...UGH!! Cannot even put into words how much i hated FPS on that system.
No matter the cost, it's for the Cheese.

The Nintendo 64 was in its time period one of the best if not the best console on the market. The graphics were at that time incredible, the controller layout was good, and it had some of the best games to ever come out. Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros, and other titles that I don't have to mention were and are great games. On the note of Legend of Zelda, when Nintendo came out with the Legend of Zelda collection for the Gamecube I quit playing the '64.

Although I never owned the system, playing it at my cousins, I enjoyed it a lot. Super Mario 64, Golden Eye, Star Fox, Super Smash Bros., Mario Tennis, and Paper Mario were my favorites. To be honest, I think some games still look good today, although some have aged horribly (i.e. Golden Eye in my opinion). But Mario Tennis is still awesome and looks good. Star Fox 64 may not look as good today, but I still find it's gameplay solid. Super Smash Bros is a pretty fun game, although if you played Super Smash Bros. Melee, you might not come back to it. Overall, I liked the White Fade Out effects used in the N64 games. lol My biggest problem. The controller and memory card system, and all the expansion stuff. |

Equally bad? ******* lol. http://www.owhata.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/zelda_online_ocarina_of_time_170805.jpg http://www.emuparadise.org/roms/psx/ff8/5.jpg The PS1 completely and utterly stomped the N64 in the graphics department. When was the last time some of you actually played PS1 and N64 games? Ocarina of Time was a freakishly ugly game back then. N64 graphics were NEVER good. A couple of games on the console, like Mario 64, did look a bit impressive, but many PS1 games completely embarrassed and the selection of good looking N64 games was extremely low.
The graphics at the time were laughable compared to the PS1's. The N64 had a very small amount of "good-looking" games. The N64 came out a year and a half later than the PS1 and it was still inferior in the graphics department. Also, "if not the best?" The PS1 sold over 3 times as many units and had many more critically acclaimed games.
