Come Play Lost Planet with Us on Nov 26
November 24, 2009 Snow

On Thanksgiving day in 2006, Capcom released the first Lost Planet multiplayer experience to Xbox Live via an online demo, featuring one map, Pirate Fortress. And, if you preordered, you got a second map for the demo, Dilapidation. Every year since then a few of us Lost Planet junkies re-unite by kicking the crap out of each other all day in some friendly matches of Lost Planet! We're inviting you to come play with us. We'll be playing everything related to LP, including the Lost Planet 2 co-op demo, LP1, LP Colonies, and possibly even the old LP demo. If you want to join in the fun, send us a message on Xbox Live to gamertag Snow Infernus. And stay in touch with all the other fans joining in on the Lost Planet forums

And just for kicks, here are some awesome fan creations that you might not have seen from Lost Planet players.

See you online this thursday!

Unity Auctions and Raffles: Tiny Monster Hunter Items
November 24, 2009 Snow

This week's new Unity Auctions and Raffles have been updated with tons of rare and tiny Monster Hunter items! Some of these are from our trip to TGS, where we went shopping in stores dedicated to some of the coolest toys on the freakin' planet. And being a phenomenon of a hit, Monster Hunter stuff is oozing out of every corner of these stores. Well, now you can get a taste of our shopping spree of Capcom swag in the auctions page

Get to bidding! And if you happen to be new to this whole Unity Auctions thing, it's pretty simple. You get Unity points for free by being a member here, you can then spend those points on the auctions page and if you win we ship the swag to you, for free!

Being a fan on Unity = Unity Points = Free Swag!

Unity Exclusive: Maximo Creator Interview and Concept Art
November 24, 2009 s-kill

Via the magic of facebook, we caught up with former Capcom-er David Siller.  Who is David Siller?  The producer/designer/creator of the much-loved "Maximo" series!

In addition to giving us a great interview, David has also sent over a boatload of amazing hand-drawn concept work from the Maximo development.  It's not just the "concept art" you see periodically, but the nitty-gritty stuff that goes into actually putting a level together.

Check out the interview below, and the full gallery here.  Really amazing stuff--this is definitely one for the Capcom history books.

Darkstalkers Comic Book Creative Team Interviewed!
November 24, 2009 jgonzo

Attention Darkstalkers fans: if you've been curious at all about Udon's upcoming 3-issue Darkstalkers mini-series, you should head on over to Comic Book Resources' interview with writer Ken Siu-Chong and artists Joe Vriens and Eric Vedder. The interview reveals a LOT about what's in store for the Darkstalkers crew.

Check it out here.

NorCal Regionals Results, Pics, and... Dance Party?
November 24, 2009 s-kill

I had the pleasure of spending late Saturday and Sunday over at the venerable NorCal Regionals, which attracted not only the best in California, but from the entire nation, with strong showings from the East Coast and even Hawaii (Capcom's own Wes, Rey, and Gerald also stopped by to check out the action).

NorCal's own Ricky Ortiz took revenge on SoCal's legendary Alex Valle for some earlier defeats by rallying to win the main event in explosive fashion, taking his always dangerous Rufus to another level (he's pictured above holding the "I AM POWER" limited ed. Akuma from SOTA from the Capcom Store, courtesy of Darin)

You can find the full results here, some great pictures at Kineda (which reflect the recent influx of ladies at SFIV events), an interview with Ricky over here, and the impromptu dance party that broke out during a brief pause in the tournament action.

Stay tuned to iplaywinner--they'll be posting some direct feed view of the finals matches soon!

Mega Man Prepares Thanksgiving

Well...sorta. Hit the video above to see what would happen if we left Mega Man in charge of preparing the turkey for Thanksgiving.

Super Street Fighter IV Profiles: Juri, Dee Jay, T. Hawk
November 24, 2009 jgonzo

[Update: Whoops, it seems they got profiles on Dee Jay and T. Hawk as well! Enjoy!]

Bitmob's Dan Hsu managed to get Seth to tell us about what he likes about Juri and the problems that she may face.

Juri is probably one of the most versatile characters. She's very dynamic with a lot of movement -- that's one of my favorite things about her. She's a threat from up close, she's a threat from mid-range...even from across the screen with her dive kick. She doesn't hit that hard, so you sort of have to string together a few guessing games.

Head on over there for the rest of the short, yet insightful mini-interview! Be sure to check out the profiles for Dee Jay and T. Hawk as well.

Gamasutra digs deep on Monster Hunter Tri with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto
November 23, 2009 Kramez

This photo does not contain images of either Gamasutra editor-at-large Christian Nutt or Monster Hunter Tri producer Ryozo Tsujimoto. However, it does have two relatively cute Capcom campaign girls from TGS 2008 throwing up the Devil Horns like they were at an AC/DC show, so that's something. If'n you're interested in deep thoughts on Monster Hunter Tri, check out Gamasutra's interview with Tsujimoto-san right over here. Within, you will learn why the team thinks the Wii was the right platform for MH Tri (controversial!), changes made to the game for Western gamer tastes (we like camera control!), how to "read" monsters (hint: not via Braille) and more.

Duck Tales helps make this kid more rad
November 23, 2009 Kramez

You may look at this picture and think, "I know this dude is, like, totally awesome, but I can't exactly put my finger on the reason why." Some may cite his blow dryer-perfect mullet. Others would point to his acid-washed jeans, casually propped in a devil-may-care, anti-authoritarian posture atop his proto-IKEA shelf/desk mashup. Few would wonder why he's missing the extended pinky to complete the obvious Mahalo move he's trying so hard to casually pull off. But the truth is that this young neomaxizoomdweebie is clearly the 80s greatest fan of Capcom's Duck Tales, one of our lost gems of the NES Era, a game so popular that even Warren Spector wants to do another one.

Check it: promotional Duck Tales poster on the wall, which receives much more prevalent positioning than what appears to be a Contra poster on the opposing wall. Pristine Duck Tales NES box propped on the table in front of the TV. And, most importantly, Scrooge McDuck bouncing away on his pogo cane right there on the screen. So tubular, it nearly defies description.

Thanks to Very Demotivational for making my mid-afternoon websurfing seem mildly productive instead of the usual total waste of time and brain cells.

Dark Void in Variety!?!
November 23, 2009 Snow

Bet you thought you'd never see Dark Void in the Daily Variety or The Hollywood Reporter! With the latest announcement of Brad Pitt's company, Plan B, taking on the Dark Void movie, everyone's talking!
