Alien Vs Predator Combo Madness
November 16, 2009 s-kill

Think Castle Crashers has some fun combos?  Time for a history lesson, because 1994 just called to show you what's up.

Check out this combo video (complete with annotations) from our arcade classic "Alien Vs Predator."  As you can see, while you can play this as just another typically button-mashy side-scroller, it actually has a really in-depth combo system that puts most modern games to shame.

The same guy also has some more amazing tricks playthrough videos for all four playable characters (each are unique and interesting), so check out his page herePredator Warrior FTW!

Street Fighter II' Champion Edition Now Available on the Wii's Virtual Console
November 16, 2009 jgonzo

Street Fighter fans take note: Street Fighter II' Champion Edition (originally for the TurboGrafx16) is now available on the Wii's Virtual Console for 700 points. What exactly is this edition all about?

This is the classic PCEngine (TurboGrafx16) version of the two-player fighting game that started it all.

At the time, a large capacity HuCARD was used to allow faithful recreation of the dynamic arcade game and its features, including bonus stages and sound effects. In the game, players select one of 12 characters and face opponents in a no-holds-barred battle to decide the top fighter. Master a character's special moves and combos to defeat your rivals around the world. In "V.S. BATTLE" mode, there's a convenient handicap feature. Using this feature to adjust a character's performance, a novice player can be evenly matched against a seasoned player to enjoy an intense, head-to-head combat experience.

New Capcom Comics! Resident Evil #3 and Street Fighter IV #4
November 16, 2009 jgonzo

All right, we're a bit late on this since these comics shipped last Wednesday, but you can still head on over to your local comic shop and pick up Resident Evil #3 and the final issue of the Street Fighter IV mini-series, issue #4!

Resident Evil #3

Veteran gaming industry writer Ricardo Sanchez and artist Kevin Sharpe bring the bio-weapons of the terrifying world of Capcom's best-selling game Resident Evil to the boiling jungles of South America.

Follow two agents as they unravel the connections between the destruction of a Space Station, a telepathic G-Virus discovered in Grezbekistan, and the shadowy munitions firm known as Geisel Industries.

Empty villages, flesh-eating zombie children, and a trip to a reclusive CEO's fortified compound bring them closer to the truth. But none of the terrors they've encountered so far could have prepared them for what happens next!

Street Fighter IV #4

The conclusion to the 4-issue miniseries based on the fighting game of the decade!

While Dan and Sakura fall victim to the experiments of the S.I.N. organization, Abel finally learns the truth about his mysterious origins.

Plus, two powerhouse villains face off - it's Seth VS Akuma in an explosive battle that could bring S.I.N.'s roof crashing down!

Seth Killian from Capcom Unity joins us to talk about his transition from college professor to God of all things Street Fighter. Sam and David talk about the success and failures of Modern Warefare 2 (Spoilers from 1:17-1:29), and Jeremy puts Nintendo¹s game design for everyone thesis to the test with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Also news about the release of Microsoft's Natal, a new Hero game from Activision, and prepare your slingshot once again as Rockstar's Bully might be returning.

Mr. Killian as college professor? OK, now you have to listen to the podcast!

Mega Man 9, Dead Rising Featured in ScrewAttack's 7 Achievements That Will Make You Cry
November 16, 2009 jgonzo

Two celebrated Capcom franchises received spots on a recent list from ScrewAttack: 7 Achievements That Will Make You Cry.

First off, Mega Man 9 makes it on the list at #5 for its painful Gamer's Day achievement, requiring players to complete the game 5 times within 24 hours.

Dead Rising nearly makes the top spot at #2 for its excruciatingly difficult 7 Day Survivor achievement, requiring players to play for 14 straight hours and survive against hordes of zombies.

Did any of you out there get these two achievements? How difficult was it for you?

Thanks Curleh!

IGN Gives Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles an 8.1!
November 16, 2009 jgonzo

One of the first reviews for the Wii-exclusive Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is in, with IGN giving the game an 8.1 out of 10!

Reviewer Craig Harris writes:

"The realtime visuals are pretty top notch, allowing for fantastic animation, detailed characters, and destructible environments. Head chunks explode at the blast of a gun and objects topple with realistic physics, all at a solid and smooth framerate."

and also

"Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles shows that the franchise can be spun out into different, successful styles of gameplay...I believe this follow-up is a significantly better experience than the original Umbrella Chronicles and one fun ride from start to finish."

Check it out for yourself by visiting IGN's site here.

Don't forget, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is out tomorrow, November 17th!

New Deal Of The Week & Dramatically Lower Shipping Costs
November 13, 2009 DJay

With the highly-anticipated release of Resident Evil® The Darkside Chronicles, I thought I'd offer up as this week's Deal Of The Week the Resident Evil® The Umbrella Chronicles Shot Blaster for 20% off! It's fully compatible with any Wii shooting game including Resident Evil® The Darkside Chronicles, and from what some Unity members have told me, it's hard to find. Well, we've got 'em! We started this week's deal a day early and the orders immediately began flooding in; all before it was even announced! It comes in really handy when kicking zombie butt. Best of all, it increases your shot accuracy and helps you get those elusive, but ohhh soooo satisfying, head shots. "THE HEAD . . . SHOOT 'EM IN THE HEAD!"

You may have noticed that I have been featuring mostly downloadable titles in the Deal of The Week. The reason for that is I have been working with our fulfillment company to lower shipping costs. As of this writing you'll see a pretty dramatic drop. I won't go into all the gory details but after some arm-twisting and the classic trick of throwing myself on the floor, kicking and screaming and holding my breath, I was able to get over a 40% decrease in shipping charges on most items. You'll now begin seeing a greater variety of items featured in the Deal Of The Week.

Dont' forget that you get an exclusive Raccoon City Police Department t-shirt free with your purchase of Resident Evil® The Darkside Chronicles. No one else has this shirt! Buy your copy now.
