Tatsunoko vs Capcom Release @ Nintendo World NYC

    Thursday, January 28, 2010, 01:13 AM [General]

It was out pleasure to be invited to this event with Seth Killian and his team from Capcom, it was a varitable cornucopia of GPX Staff and Sponsored players at this event.  It was a lot of fun and we got to help showcase what we believe is a great game.

This was an amazing weekend for Tatsunoko vs Capcom, not only did we get a chance to introduce as many people as possible to this title we were able to get soem veteral players from the Cross Generation of Heroes (The Japanese Import Release) which did not feature some of the newer characters like Zero (my personal favorite) as well as Joe the Condor and Yatterman 2 were in attendance to give Keits, Jeff and Joe some competition.

We held a private session at the local home of one of the best Melty Blood players in the East Coast Victor "Spooky" Fontanez and ran a solid 200+ person Stream throughout the night with all of us commentating on the stream and showcasing all the new characters, combos and new loops into supers.

While Tatsunoko was the main focus of our weekend we decided to take some of our players to Philly early on Friday for a Street Fighter IV tournament that was run by Zack "Kattermari" Katterman, which has a nice 32 man bracket - We sponsored Sanford "Santhrax" Kelly and Andre "Jago" Lambert - Sanford took Grand Championship, while Andre took 3rd losing to Sky who is a solid and amazing Philly player.  believed by many in the east coast to have the best Honda game in the US versus Mike Ross.

Sunday was BattleField Arcadia X - one of their largest to date, had over 50 players come out and support the community.  Sanford Kelly took Grand Championship here Seconded by Kevin "Dieminion" Landon's amazing Guile Skills...newcomer to BattleField Arcadia events, Insane with an amazing Blanka performance powered his way through to take 3rd - lots to see from this great player!

Seb and Damdai were present for BattleField.  Seb streaming to his ever popular website www.frame-advantage and Damdai who created an amazing tournament website www.tonamento.com.

Aside from these events, GPX was present at another release party Tuesday night at Arctica Bar held by Game Over - we helped showcase Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and recorded Javier "Demarcus" Guevara and myself performing combos and showing off the baroque system.  Michael "IFC Yipes" Mendoza and Andre "Jago" Lambert were also showing some of their old school skills from  Marvel vs Capcom 2 in this title.

It was a busy weekend for events, tournaments, promotions and talking about GAMME.  We made our announcement to Destructoid that interviewed us that we were officially placing $1000 as a bonus pot to Tatsunoko vs Capcom @ GAMME making the first official Major for the title in the US.  Seth was elated with a huge smile when we told him our intentions for this title and how much support we want to give it.

We spoke with Niitsuma-Sempai and he is excited about the release in america and hopes that the players get behind it as solidly as they have for other titles like Street Fighter IV.

    Keits was helping me work on my 2A A B 2B ~ C 3C A A B C P+A A A B C QCF B+C

which was a great combo into baroque Combo Super.  Keits was wearing his awesome ties repping the Tatsunoko love.

Overall a great weekend.  Next weekend we do it all over again, this time in South Florida in Davie and Will's Pub next monday.  Strongstyle also has their Tekken event with some international players coming in this weekend as well as some Tallahassee tourneys, going to be another busy weekend for GPX - HYPE.

    MAGFEST, KIT:R, MLG, POUND 4!

    Thursday, January 7, 2010, 07:06 PM [General]

We have a ton of projects coming up in the next couple weeks,  between now and January 20th we have KIT:R in Tennessee, GPX will be taking 3 of its players down to Nashville to see where we can place, Sanford, Andre and Fighting GM will be representing both GPX and Empire Arcadia.

MaGFest was a resounding success this year, we were able to successfully run all the tournaments throughout the weekend within the projected time slots and make sure everything was according to plan.  We had some kinds as expected that we were as a team able to work with and fix on the spot as they occurred.  We of course had some minor issues in the smash community, but we took care of that as well...

KIT:R One of the biggest Major's for Tekken in the Southeast is this weekend and MLG returns to Orlando.  Pound 4 is around the corner Jan. 16th as well up here in the Maryland Area.

I will be flying out to Japan on the 20th and getting some vital work done for an event I help plan and will be getting some time at God's Garden as well to promote there for GAMME.

We have so much to talk about from MaGFest, more information will come for that after the weekend!

Little Rock GameCon, AnimeUSA & Katsucon

    Tuesday, November 10, 2009, 05:07 PM [General]

Busy couple of weeks so far.

Just finished Aerial Rave 2.0 - That was awesome!  Pictures coming soon. Everything ran smoothly, short of a little BlazBlue confuzzle and the Brawl Community not showing up, all was well oiled.

This week we have been working on the Tournaments and Gaming scenarios for a few conventions, and we met with the hotel for Anime St. Louis to finalize the details for that event.  Had a few issues with the hotel for another event that we had to work on on the fly, and thankfully we helped work those out and the event is moving forward.  We usually make ourselves available to all these events, we hope they call us and let us know these things...We can usually fix those problems for them.

All is right in the world again.

This weekend we hit Little Rock Game Con, and we got Andre and Sanford flown out for this event.  We also have Evil Rahsaan from the Empire touring with us for a couple of weeks.  He will be representing EMP and GPX at Little Rock.

Anime USA is soon there after, and the event will be huge and GPX is all over it! We have over 18 hours of our events and panels to run at this event as Industry and Gaming Guests.  We also have TeamGPX administrating their tourneys (part of our 3 year plan to get AUSA Tournament Legitimate!).  This is Year 3 for GPX and AUSA, and we are loving every minute of it.  We sponsored DM Ashura at this event and brought Steve Blum and Troy Baker to this event.  We are really excited!

We just announced Today our big involvement with Katsucon 16 as well!  GPX was there in an equipment capacity last year and we helped behind the scenes to get their Gaming department back on track.  We have been studying their forums and the last 3 years of their event to see how their gaming culture functions, while they are in the same backyard as AUSA, people sometimes have different expectations!

We will be running all the gaming aspects this upcoming year and setting up all the tournaments with our teams and keeping it all smooth!

We are really happy to get this opportunity again for Katsucon, we had a lot of high praise on their forums from their attendees this past February from an attendee base that seemed to give up on their gaming, and now they know they have the big boys handling gaming and bringing competitive side of Katsucon.

We are proud that these events trust us so heavily with their aspirations.  Katsucon has been through many changes this year and we will help them make their changes for the better.

We will also be setting up Line Registration Tournaments with Portable Gaming - That's right, PSP, DSi, Neo Geo Pocket Color and WonderSwan O_O YEP, WonderSwan Tournaments! Ever played Guilty Gear X on a Japanese WonderSwan!!! OH MY!.

We have a lot of great things planned.

    Stick Around,

Meetings! Tournaments Administration and Event Planning

    Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 01:16 AM [General]

Oh Meetings...SO many SO little time.

But we have to have them.   We had quite a few meetings tonight, from our West Coast meeting with Gootecks for some items he and I are working on to our Tournament Administration meetings for my staff @ GAMME.  I am excited when we have this many folks from the competitive industry working together to provide a fantastic product.

    Makes me very happy!

We have our tournament spaces organized on the Fighter side very nicely.  We have our main Streaming Groups ready to go, we have our 100 console layout neat and clean for Competitive and Casual Play and our Tourney Officials are being worked into our organizational matrix.

The Boards are alive with information and we have a few shows to hit this November which will make a great statement on GPX.  So I am excited.  I hit the road again tomorrow.  (I know I just got back, been home for 2 days for my Daughters Birthday) but Duty calls and I will see my little ones when I get back for Turkey weekend...gobble gobble!

Aerial Rave is this weekend and we are a sponsor and will be out there on Friday - so if any of you from the Northern and MidWest communities want to hang out - hit us up, we will be running around St. Louis blowing up the city since we cant setup until early Sat morning.

We hit Little Rock GameCon the week after, but we will also be working on Anime St. Louis while we are there to make sure they have their dates and event ready for their setup in March!

St. Louis, ah one of my favorite towns to work on events, the kids there are starved for more content and they just love to be in the community - my young town she is growing up with people like Nick Frank running ASL and its just GDLK!

GPX has a lot of road work and we have more announcements to make this weekend with our new flyers coming out in St. Louis ready for our next events.

We hope to see you at our stops - be sure to hit www.gpxgaming.net for more info on our event and promotional tours.

    GPX_LEADTHEWAY - wait that's the Military...Ok,  GPX_LIFE!!!  That's better...

    Promotional Tour

    Saturday, October 24, 2009, 10:55 AM [General]

    Afternoon all,

GPX will be touring in tandem with its events to other tournaments and Street Fighter IV events to get the word out on our event next June.  We have been to many of the 2009 events and tournaments and we have been doing out best to help wherever we are.  We are sponsoring many of these events and we hope the community gives us more feedback on what they want and how we can improve.  With each event we solidify more of our setup and make it bigger and better.

This weekend we have promotional items out to Infinite Bits, Walter Day is out there rating some folks in hopes of setting world records.  Monday is Orlando BarFights - I will be there personally with some extra LCD's and CRT's for their use with consoles and games.  We hope to see you there.

Next weekend will be the "Best of New England" events in Game Universe in Framingham, MA.  GPX Staff will be there to show support and assist Dan (LuckyD - SRK) with anything he needs.

November is a Huge month for GPX,

First up is Aerial Rave in St. Louis a Tournament event we sponsor run by Jeff Blyden (Kurasa - SRK) and is one of the hypest events in St. Louis, many of the best from the area will be in attendance as they seek to find the best in Missouri.

Little Rock Game Con comes after as Little Rock Arkansas shows its chops and gets into the ring with its players.  We have been working with this event to help it bring all its vision to fruition.  Javier Guevara (Demarcus [GPX] - SRK) and Myself, Manny Camacho (Moadib - SRK) will be officiating their Street Fighter IV tournament and making sure the event is success.  GPX has assisted in Sponsoring Sanford Kelly and Andre Lambert both Empire Arcadia and both world class players in Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, HD Remix will be in attendance to the convention and will be hosting a 2v2 "Beat the Champs" team challenge.  This convention is sure to open the eyes of everyone in the region.

Finally we come to an event we have been working with and planning for multiple years.  GPX returns for its 3rd year at AnimeUSA! We are making this one so big it will become the largest Gaming Lounge for any anime convention in the East Coast of 2009.

GPX will be hosting a number of events and panels at AUSA, from our ever popular Live Radio show to our new Podcast "A State of Nerd" to all the tournaments the area can handle.

We will be out in force with over 25 staff members from GPX Events and will be bringing the party to Virginia like no ones business!

The Beginning of December marks the next North Eastern Championships brought to you by the folks that bring March Madness and Summer Jam.  We are looking forward to this show as one of the hype events of the Christmas season.

NECX will be in Dec 5-6 in Philly and we will be there with equipment, hype and promotion.  We hope to see some of the top players in the area meet with players from all over the East Coast and some from the West Coast competing for their spots in the top.

But wait the year is not over yet, Yeah I know...while those other companies are on vacation GPX is still on the road bringing the best in gaming to you the gamers of our world.  December 18 is Florida Gaming VSA's WinterFest09.  GPX Gaming is working with them to handle all the Halo and Call of Duty events.  We will be working with FG/VSA and their tours throughout 2010 and are slated for each of the cities they are setting up.

To close the year and start 2010 right is MAGFEST! MaGFest will be one of the largest Setups GPX has every created for a gaming event outside of our own.  with over 100+ Consoles and LCD panels GPX will be helping MaGFest create history for 2010.

Its been one hell of a year and GPX has been there to every major moment without skipping a beat, we love hearing about the competition and how they are bigger or the premiere group...its funny.  We don't say those things, its not needed - we know we're the biggest and we know we're the Premiere gaming event group - we prefer to let the gamers and the community say that, we don't need to do what those other guys do.

We will keep leading the way and be happy to let the other guys follow.
