Apparently "The Worst Kept Gaming Industry" secret has been revealed and has launched a exclusive demo on the Playstation Network, so I figured to give it a whirl. As much as everyone else Marvel VS Capcom 2 has to be my favorite fighting game of all time, it was just so gosh darn fun. When they announced it would be released in HD and on the PS3 & 360 I was excited. I was imagining it to be as awesome looking as the recent Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix.
I was wrong....
Pretty Much it's the same graphics, just much much smaller on a widescreen format, and the characters looked worse then ever on my Flat Screen LCD. I was kinda disapointed, even though I know MvC2 just rehashed the same sprites from previous fighting games, this HD version just made it worse.
The game feels and plays the same, just looks ugly compared to the Dreamcast or the PS2/XBOX versions.
The only saving grace of this HD port is the fact you can now play it online, which is awesome, you don't have to invite friends over anymore and dust off the old game consoles to fight it out.
Personally my feeling on this is that and I hate to say it because I love Capcom. They just trying to rush this out to make a quick buck, I wouldn't mind waiting a year and 1/2 if possible for a Remix port like Street Fighter was. Better yet, wouldn't be awesome if Udon drew the sprites again, or if Udon and Marvel teamed up to draw them together....would of been breathtaking.
I just hope now that Capcom won't sell this rushed port for more then $10, otherwise i'll wait till it goes on sale before I double dip.
