    My Thoughts on MvC2 Demo

    Friday, May 1, 2009, 09:54 AM [General]

Apparently "The Worst Kept Gaming Industry" secret has been revealed and has launched a exclusive demo on the Playstation Network, so I figured to give it a whirl. As much as everyone else Marvel VS Capcom 2 has to be my favorite fighting game of all time, it was just so gosh darn fun. When they announced it would be released in HD and on the PS3 & 360 I was excited. I was imagining it to be as awesome looking as the recent Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix.

    I was wrong....

Pretty Much it's the same graphics, just much much smaller on a widescreen format, and the characters looked worse then ever on my Flat Screen LCD. I was kinda disapointed, even though I know MvC2 just rehashed the same sprites from previous fighting games, this HD version just made it worse.

The game feels and plays the same, just looks ugly compared to the Dreamcast or the PS2/XBOX versions.

The only saving grace of this HD port is the fact you can now play it online, which is awesome, you don't have to invite friends over anymore and dust off the old game consoles to fight it out.

Personally my feeling on this is that and I hate to say it because I love Capcom. They just trying to rush this out to make a quick buck, I wouldn't mind waiting a year and 1/2 if possible for a Remix port like Street Fighter was. Better yet, wouldn't be awesome if Udon drew the sprites again, or if Udon and Marvel teamed up to draw them together....would of been breathtaking.

I just hope now that Capcom won't sell this rushed port for more then $10, otherwise i'll wait till it goes on sale before I double dip.

The Retro-Duo (The Ultimate NES/SNES Replacement?)

    Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 02:03 PM [General]

I was at my local mom and pop game shop in town (which rocks way better then GameStop and GameCrazy combined)

They had this neat console that was released not to long ago called a Retro-Duo. The Retro-Duo is a small console that can play the NES and SNES cartridiges even played the imported ones.

My friend Steve grabbed one and it looked awesome. He came back to my place and played Super Mario Bros. on my 32" Samsung LCD, unfortanely it looked weird, I figured it had to do with the pixels being stretched like crazy, but it played like a charm.

I don't have a NES anymore and my SNES is on the friz a lil, due to the AC Adaptor plug not staying in correctly and coming loose or disconnecting during gameplay, i'm actually convinced to pick one up for $50 and give it a shot. I seen some ugly Clone systems in my time, but this has to be the best yet. Here's a video I took from YouTube to see how it is...

I hope it plays all of my Megaman games on NES and SNES....I should also get a Super Game Boy for my old GB games too :)

    My start into Megaman fandom

    Monday, April 20, 2009, 11:27 AM [General]

(Someone had a thread up asking about how you got into Megaman, I figured I'll make my first blog with my reply considering this is how I got hook into Capcom games and hooked on Megaman himself)

    HOW I BECAME A MEGAMANFANATIC

My love for Megaman happend when I was around 5 years old. We just moved into our new home off of Post where my father was stationed, and my brother went out to the local video store and rented a couple of games to play on the NES. He rented Robocop & Megaman. Sure enough I loved Robocop, but I also was in love with Megaman. Even though how difficult it was for someone new to the formula, I kept playing. I remember my first go was I constantely played through Bombman's stage, I would die hear and there, but I kept playing focusing myself and remembering my mistakes sure enough after like 20 tries, I faced Bombman and got my butt handed to me, but I kept playing and eventually Bombman was toast!

Later my brother would borrow a copy of Megaman 2, which is of course my favorite of the originals, and everything about it was awesome. I remember early in the morning, I would get dressed and get ready fast enough to run into the basement and play a few stages before the school bus arrived.

Eventually, I asked my family to buy the Megaman games for me. My grandparents followed through though. Funny enough my birthday was in May and always around May at the time, Capcom had a new Megaman game available.

To this day, I'm a diehard Megamanfanatic and a major collector. I own every Megaman game to date released in the U.S. along with several imports, and I normally will spurge my money in picking up anything the Blue Bomber is on. :P
