Hey, how's it going? ^_^ |

Yikes, sorry to hear about your friend and the gas money, I'm so glad your sister lived close enough to come help you guys out! The envelope system is really good for con training, I highly recommend it. I hope it works just as well for you! =) |

I know, seriously! The first year I ever went to a convention I (fortunately) followed the advice of one of my friends who was a seasoned con veteran. She told me to sit down and work out a budget/spreadsheet that showed the cost of everything, including food. I was stunned by how much it added up to and drastically reduced the “spending money” section to help out a bit. Then I split the money up into envelopes (room, gas, food, badge, etc) so I wouldn’t be tempted to pull funds from different areas (“I don’t need to eat today, I’d rather have this Resident Evil pin/hat/t-shirt/poster/figure!”). ^_^ |

Sorry to hear that, although I totally understand. Cons are so expensive when you add everything together, it never ceases to amaze me sometimes >_<. That's why I only go to two cons a year (Anime Weekend Atlanta and Otakon), I honestly couldn't afford anymore XD. Plus it takes so much time, effort, and organizing to get ready for one, I think it makes it even more of a special event if you just go to one or two. =) |
