Welp a fellow hunter asked about some lance tips but becuase the way they have set up their privicy settings i'll have to hope he/she reads this.

Welp here we go!

Well somethings obvious is with the lance you also have a big frigin sheild usualluy dawned with a similar style to the lance. This shield is your best friend. Lances arent hammers or that big ass sword, no, the lance is the weapon of choice for tanks. The lance has the highest defense v damage ratio output, meaning you can block alot and still deal hits with the best of em. Any basic strategy must circulate around this shield. There is no dodging (no real dodging anyway) only a wall of solid steel. Im not gunna sit here and tell you the lance requires you to have an ungodly level of reflexes cuz its pretty damn easy to figure whens a good time to block and whens a good time to strike. Like any weapon you tailor the strategy acording to the hunt. Some hunts are longer then others cuz of the way a monster attacks.

I feel pretty good with sayin rule no 1 is Your Sheild is your Best Friend!

Hmmm Gah its soooo boring playing the steel wall especially with no friends to bring the damage. Have no fear! You can stab while keeping that marvelous lovely sheild up, tho this wont be enough no. The lances reach is fictional (atleast to me) It seems to me that the long sword and Great Sword have a pretty even reach, on par with the lance. But the Joust is a move unlike anyother, a great cut and run tactic. It lets you run thru a wyvern head to tail with out a pause and any damage sustaind usually wont throw you off that B-line. I recomend always running thru a monster whenever the opertunity is right.

My favorite damage tactic is to use a pitfal/shock trap then have a mega juice handy. Joust + Infinate Stamina + Imobile monster - its ability to attack= a nice chunk of health gone. Im gunna guess some hunters dispise traps and tactics like this but being able to be taken out in one hit by a cheap combo move like some monsters can, i think its only fair that we employ a few sucker punches of our own.

It seems I got Monster Hunter Freedom 1 & 2 too little too late. When my bro first got MHF, I played it and put it down in the first hour. Gah that fu__r was hard! But now that I've actually invested much time and care, It's now that i have a deep apreciation for this games learning curve and difficulty. I have never played a game that was so rewarding in its gameplay and victories. I could literally spend days preping for a single hunt. The right armor... the right weapon... and the right strategy alone eats up a days hours. Each of the armor sets are beautifully designed and the verities is nearly endless. i have yet to come across and armor set that i completely hate. Even the basic armors look well enough to wear to a final battle. Sure its not perfect but what game is? (say ff7 and i'll stab you) A few camera glitches here and there that lead to a vicious rape is really no big deal in the grand scale of the environments, hunts and deep level of character customization. And now here we are on the precipace of the third MHF, ohhhhh boy i cant wait to get me a brand spankin new lance and show off some! MONSTER HUNTERS... UNITE!! June 23 2009!
