    My Review of Bionic Commando

Friday, June 5, 2009, 12:40 PM CST [General]

I really really really really really really really really really really like it because it's awesome and everyone else sucks.

Okay, the twists at the end and the ending are balls but still....

Resident Evil 5 Demo: First Impressions

Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 02:48 AM CST [General]

I've had this account for awhile but never bothered to post anything so....myeah....

Co-op was pretty fun and the game seems alot tougher than RE4. There's still plenty of ammo but, like, you're swarmed so much by so many enemies in big playgrounds of whatever with one super douche in the middle of it all stalking you (like a chainsaw guy or that huge executioner guy) that it's very easy to run out and then you end up running around hoping TO GOD you missed some bullets somewhere or hoping there's an easy enemy for you to knife to death....

But yeah, emphasis seems to be on co-op. It's not much easier either way really. With the limited ammo and real-time item management, you're both as equally ****ed sometimes.

Just like RE4, outside of "****, RUN" moments, it's not scary. And if the two demo stages are any indication, it looks like they're aiming for more of the Left4Dead-esque "bursts of quick fun". They were hectic short stages with enough...."depth" I guess, but still relatively short.

The controls are also kinda awkward...I got used to them fast enough but it's still pretty weird. The camera is always WAY too close to you and you can't really keep an eye on your surroundings like in RE4 (you could always look to your right and left with the right stick. Doesn't sound like much it was always a GREAT help).

It looks like Mikami's departure is definitely hurting this new RE a bit. It feels a bit "off" and there's this weird feeling of....I don't know, incomplete-ness to it all. My earlier points about "playgrounds" and emphasis on multiplayer seem to come to play here: this is clearly something to play with friends and not much more. The levels just don't feel like real levels somehow but rather more like multiplayer maps. RE4 had alot of spots like these but they always felt right.

I really can't put my finger on what's wrong with RE5 but it's a definite problem.  I really hope that the other levels in the full-game are much better and other problems, like the confused A.I. are fixed by the release date. As it is, it's just a two-player, 3rd person, and less polished Left4Dead.

There was actually one who said something along the lines of "If you don't do like I say, I will take my money elsewhere and you will lose my money and go out of business!"
