"Aeronauts of the Future" got nothing on Dark Void's jetpack!

Thursday, November 19, 2009, 08:13 PM [Dark Void]

I love BoingBoing -- I've been following the evolution of this future-perfect media monster since I first ran across the original black & white zine in a sci-fi bookstore in the late 80s. The BB crew regularly explore the weird edge of science and technology, bringing back reports of robots that play Rock Band better than you do, guides to surviving the imminent and inevitable zombie apocalypse and photo montages of deer-butt faces.

Whilst crawling along the outer edges of the internet (it's a Mondo world out there in cyberspace, after all), BoingBoing ran across this story from the Fortean Times about "Aeronauts of the Future," strange sightings of flying dudes that seem... familiar. Brad Pitt, I mean, Will would be right at home amongst these various winged men and hovering platforms. Also, am I the only person who actually remembers seeing the flying platform to the right on That's Incredible?

Disastrous moments in actually licensed Street Fighter History

Thursday, November 19, 2009, 01:58 PM [Street Fighter]

While we're on the topic of crazy Street Fighter character appearances in Hong Kong movies, I present the above clip from Jackie Chan's 1993 City Hunter (which was a popular Japanese manga/anime series at the time). Two things that make this amazing:

    1. Jackie Chan as Chun-Li. Or E. Honda, can't decide which is crazier
    2. That this was actually done with Capcom approval (the company logo appears in the credits of the movie)
