Lost Planet PlayStation 3 demo returns; has your n

Thursday, February 14, 2008, 5:04 PM [Capcom General]

Now with players inside…Psst! Don't look now, but the PlayStation 3 multiplayer demo for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is now back up on the PlayStation network. Turns out that well over 100,000 people downloaded the demo in less than 24 hours and almost everyone immediately tried to hop into a game. The resulting flood of incoming connection requests made it tough for people to join matches, but Sony has since done some maintenance on the server side that should hopefully have helped smooth out the multi-player experience. It's believed that the issues have been resolved and players should be able to enjoy Lost Planet in all its online glory. The demo features the Pirate Fortress map and has both Elimination (aka “deathmatch”) and Team Elimination (aka "team deathmatch") game modes. The demo is limited to 8 players during matches, but the full version -- out February 26! -- will support up to 16 players in a single match. The full version of the game includes an exclusive new unlockable character, Luka, all the added characters from the PC version of the game (Frank West, Joe, and Mega Man), all four game modes, and every Lost Planet map ever made. This definitive Lost Planet: Extreme Condition PS3 package goes on sale at retail starting February 26th. If you still have the demo downloaded on your PS3, you will not have to download it again (indeed, you've probably still been playing since last week, as we have). We've been playing a few matches here at the Capcom offices this afternoon and have had no problems connecting to games. We've been jumping into matches and handing players their heads on a VS rocket left and right. Our PS3 PSN ID is Chris Tou's, "fobtastic." See you on EDN-III! We'll be the ones aiming the homing laser at your face.
