New Metallica video or Resident Evil 6 trailer? You be the judge

Monday, December 8, 2008, 07:47 PM [Resident Evil]

The new Metallica record is excellent, a powerful return to form for the Bay Area's best hard rocking band (gotta give it up for local boys done good). This new video for "All Nightmare Long" off Death Magnetic is remarkably Lars-free, instead going for a Cold War zombie vibe that works well with the song's lyrics and Metallica in general. Watching this video, I was struck by the sudden flash that you could strip out the hammer-'n-sickle logos and replace it with the Umbrella red-'n-white logo and this video could very easily be a trailer for Resident Evil 6. What do you think?

Nothing says "rock" like a Swedish kid playing Mega Man 9 music

Monday, December 8, 2008, 03:21 PM [Mega Man]

Just last week I had dinner with a couple of the guys from GRIN, who are quickly becoming one of my favorite game development studios. They are all mighty Swedish viking nerd warriors, capable of eating their weight in meat and pineapple served on swords while inflicting their horrible, horrible "candy" upon unsuspecting palates.

Much like the boys from GRIN, Fredrik Larsson is also a viking (as you can tell from his name). A rock viking, that is. Click above to watch as Freddy and his trusty axe shred the various stage themes from Mega Man 9. I couldn't help myself; mid-way through the video I threw up the devil horns at my monitor and moshed by desk chair. RAWK!

Fei Long, I mean, Bruce Lee playing ping pong with nunchucks

Watch the video above, and forever mourn the early loss of Bruce Lee. PS: it's fake and an ad for a Chinese mobile, but is still superbitchin'. Rekkaken!

Gamepro January issue: it's all about Capcom

Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 04:49 PM [Resident Evil]

Early copies of Gamepro's January issue are just starting to plop into mailboxes around North America (you remember your mailbox, it's what used to be filled with AOL trial discs every month) and wouldn't you know it? Resident Evil 5 rocks the cover! Not only are Chris and Sheva on point on the front of the book, but the inside bits are also filled to the rim with Capcom updates. Over the course of the 20+ page feature, Gamepro digs in on RE5 (exciting new screen shots!), prints some rather... provocative Cammy artwork, goes vert with Bionic Commando and reveals new elements about our currently-simmering-under-the-radar US project, Dark Void. The mag should be on newsstands now (or soon, depending on the whims of the good ole USPS), so go get it!

Resident Evil 5 demo coming, release still March 13, 2009

Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 01:17 PM [Resident Evil]

While us lazy Americans are winding down in preparation for an entire day of stuffing our collective piehole, our fellows at headquarters in Japan are busily dropping Resident Evil 5 news. This week's Famitsu Magazine has news that the Xbox 360 demo for RE5 will be dropping in Japan on December 5th. Our intrepid Investor Relations team have also revealed that development on RE5 is actually proceeding faster than predicted and, as a result, the release date of Resident Evil 5 in Japan is moving up one week to March 5, 2009.

What does this mean to you, Joe Sixpack, denizen of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Collapsing Economy? Not much. Resident Evil 5 is still on track for the previously-announced Friday the 13th, March 2009, release in both North America and Europe. Fear not, we will also be seeing demos for both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game, but they will be hitting N. America a bit later than the Japanese demo. Stay tuned, more to come on the demos soon!
