Stephen T of Kotaku (ne MTv Multiplayer) just posted an interesting piece on why swimming either sucks, kills you or is eventually removed from most video games (barring those starring Aquaman, of course). Stephen fired some email at Mr. B. Judd regarding Nathan Spencer's inability to backstroke his way to victory: turns out that a gigantic metal arm is not actually a flotation device. Read up on deep thougts about dog paddling from industry luminaries like Ben Judd, Pete Wanat, Dave Perry and Darren Bridges from Sucker Punch.

John D blows up PlayStation blog with free Bionic Commando codes
On behalf of Capcom, I'd like to apologize to the guys at the Playstation Blog for yesterday's shenanigans. Capcom's John D., who maintains an impressive stream of updates on the PlayStation blog (yet curiously few here on Unity, hmm...) posted on Sony's official blog yesterday about new additions coming to Bionic Commando Rearmed for PS3 owners. Amongst the additions to the game: the long-promised Trophies (finally!) as well as new gameplay tweaks for "Easy" and "Normal" difficulties. Towards the end of the post, John D addressed haterz and then promised to give out free codes in the comments section. Turns out, kids like free crap and immediately began commenting like mad in the effort to save themselves $10. This avalanche of internet nonsensery proceeded to explodify the PlayStation blog, forcing the admins over there to lock down the comments section at just north of 2,000 entries. Whoops, our bad! And Happy Second Birthday, PS Blog: we've stolen a lot of really good ideas from you guys for Unity.
Bionic Commando reviews begin to hit the net
Bionic Commando begins arriving in stores tomorrow and reviews for the game are starting to pop up on the North American end of the internets, plus in the few remaining video game magazines.
Giant Bomb gives the game a respectable 4 out of 5 stars. IGN chimes in with an 8 of 10. GamePro adds their own 4 of 5 star review. Game Informer, on the other hand, was turned off by some elements of the game, especially certain story elements, and gives the game a 6.25. We'll post more reviews as we find 'em.
We're noticing a trend with the reviews that we've seen so far. They seen to fall into two broad categories: those who master the tough swing mechanic and really dig it, and those who have a hard time getting it down and run into frustrations. Where do you stand? Have you tried the demo on Xbox LIVE yet?
In the meantime, check out IGN's video review to see if you can figure out why they were thrown off by a few random Pepsi machines and billboards with NVIDIA logos.
Bionic Commando: Rearmed price drop!
After much fanfare and patient waiting, Bionic Commando is almost upon us. To celebrate the release of Nathan "Radd" Spencer's first 3D adventure, we've teamed up with our buddies at Sony to drop the price on Bionic Commando: Rearmed on the PlayStation Network for a limited time. BC:R was one of the top-rated digitally downloaded games of last year and received much love from reviewers around the globe. Now this gem can live on your North American PlayStation 3 for a puny $4.99!
Xboxers, don't fret. The XBLA version of Bionic Commando: Rearmed will also go on sale on LIVE for 400 starting on May 25. Lucky Europeans actually get to take advantage of this price drop today.
You're obligated to pick this one up in order to experience my second-favorite Capcom game of all time. Also, if you're kicking around the idea of getting Bionic Commando when it releases on Tuesday, May 19, keep in mind that there's a couple cool things that unlock in the "big" game if you have the "little" game.
More about BC:R directly from the keyboard of Ben Judd on the awesome PlayStation blog.

Okay, show of hands: how many of you actually noticed that Sara is leaning on a classic Bionic Commando arcade machine? Surely, that cannot be hygenic.
