So long, Unity! Thanks for the last three years

    Friday, January 29, 2010, 4:33 PM [General]

I am leaving Capcom today after more than three years of being (back) with the company, a decision that was not easy to make. A new career opportunity has come my way, one that I simply couldn't pass up. Before I bolted, I did want to say farewell and tell you, the entire assembled avenging Unity community, how much I've appreciated everything we've built together over the last few years. Unity has turned into an amazing locale, one that's consistently name-checked as "best in the business" for the way the games industry brings fans together. I've been very proud and very, very lucky to have been a part of the evolution of the grand Unity experiment since the best-forgotten days of 2006 all the way up 'til, well, today.

I'm going to maintain my profile on Unity because I am now and ever will be a fan of Capcom and all of its many games. I leave you all to the very good care of Seth, Shawn and Joveth and in the very capable, competent hands of each other. Hope to catch you online in Monster Hunter Tri, Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2 and the other games Capcom has coming up in the future.

    Stay classy, Capcom Unity!

What do Ken, Chris and Dante have in common? Reuben, of course

    Friday, October 9, 2009, 8:20 PM [General]

Reuben Langdon should be familiar to Devil May Cry fans; Dante's face has more than a passing similarity to Reuben, as he's been providing the moves and voice  for the character since DMC3. He's done a done of work for Capcom over the years, including RE4, Lost Planet 2, Street Fighter IV (he did Ken's voice) and RE Darkside Chronicles. The Christian Science Monitor has an interview with him, where he talks about his history (he starred in a Japanese Power Ranger-type show!) as well as the future (he worked on Cameron's Avatar!). Plus, he's a super nice dude, as anyone who's met him at various anime, game and comic conventions can attest. If you've ever wondered what it takes to be an actor in the world of video game production, check this out.

    Tokyo toys 2009

    Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 1:19 PM [General]

If you're like me, you probably love Japanese toys almost as much as you love Japanese video games. I've been obsessed with transforming toys since I was a kid and every trip to Japan costs me serious dough as I drop more $$$ than I should pursuing childhood delights. While Akihabara is the Tokyo mecca for all things toy-related, it turns out that even large electronic chain Bic Camera can house a  surprisingly extensive amount of awesomeness. I snapped these photos inside the Bic near Tokyo Station, then proceded to spend over $400 in this one store (don't tell my wife) on some stuff that I will share later in the week when my box of goodies arrives from Japan. There are several more pictures in my Toys from Tokyo gallery. Enjoy!
