Samurai Tarantino and Amatersau sell kawai inu keitai speaker. Or something.

Monday, December 7, 2009, 1:18 PM [Random Weirdness]

Yeah, so that dog may not actually be Okami's Amaterasu, but close enough, right? Plus, Quentin is clearly having the time of his life. This video contains roughly 70% of the elements that make me love Japanese culture. Missing: tentacles, robots, ninjas, robot ninja tentacles.

All hail Gizmodo for linking to this video.

Meanwhile, in Osaka, there's a dragon on the river...

Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 3:14 PM [Random Weirdness]

Capcom's headquarters is not actually, as presumed, inside an active volcano or submerged beneath arctic ice. Instead, our HQ is in Osaka, a city I've come to appreciate even more than Tokyo for random weirdness. Capcom's offices are not too far away from Dotonbori and the huge outdoors malls there, where this crazy mechadragon is now cruising the waters, looking to alternately drench and flambe onlookers. It's no life-sized Gundam statue, but I do like the idea of a water-based King Ghidorah setting pacinko freaks on fire. Thanks to Pink Tentacle for pointing out this river-borne terror.

On becoming a better Japanese zombie...

Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 1:49 PM [Random Weirdness]

Never let is be said that the Japanese, as a people, will shirk from their duties. Take, for instance, being a zombie at a theme park: In the US, our undead actors would totally be all, "Okay, I've got my makeup on, now I'm just gonna shuffle my feet, make weird moaning noises and ooze on tourists until it's time for my Union-mandated smoke break." In Japan, that attitude is a non-starter! Gizmodo pointed us towards this awesome clip of Japanese amusement park workers from Fuji-Q Highland attending a full-on zombie boot camp. Man, can I go to this when I'm in Japan in September? I think I have the can-do zombie spirit these guys are looking to instill. We should at least put the entire Dead Rising 2 team through this course... More videos from Fuji-Q here, and they are AWESOME.

Now You Know: Bjork explains how your TV works

Monday, November 3, 2008, 6:02 PM [Random Weirdness]

I love Bjork. Everyone should love Bjork. People who don't love Bjork, you gotta watch out for them; they're prolly some kind of shape-shifting lizardperson bent on world domination. Or something. Just 'cause it's a rainy Monday, we present for you Bjork (circa Sugarcubes days would be my guess, based on her youth and giant hair) explaining how your TV works. I was half expecting rainbows and fairies to come shooting out of her set when she opened the back. Love her!
