Merry/Happy! The Japanese website for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li has posted a trailer for the upcoming flick. Witness Kristen Kreuk flip-kicking baddies and catching a sword between her palms, Michael Clarke Duncan smashing fools, a little Vega action and the barest hint of a hadouken.I'd drop the trailer here, but there's no easy embed code to snatch and I am quite bad at this whole internet thing. Instead, head over to the site and watch it yerself!
- The game (duh)
- A limited-edition (ie., not sold anywhere else) figurine – Ryu in the PS3 box, C. Viper hotness in the 360 flavor. Decisions, decisions...
- Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind: a 65 minute anime movie -- created by Studio 4C -- that sets up the story of SFIV by explaining events post-SFII. BluRay disc in the PS3 box! The Xbox version is a 360 game disc that outputs the movie at 720P, not a DVD.
- A mini-strategy guide from Prima, written by the same people doing the full-on guide and illustrated by Udon Comics
- CD soundtrack. Rock SFIV stage chunez in your car!
- …Plus some secret additional downloadable content that we’re not quite ready to reveal at this point. Look for more announcements soon!
Japanese trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is live!
Unboxinating the Mad Catz Official SFIV FightStick: Tournament Edition
Unboxing tech products may not be the absolute nerdiest porn on the internet, but it's at least gotta be up in the Top Three (Dearest Community: this is not a challenge, please do not send me your sketchy collection of weird/distrubing links, as it will only make me banhammerize you). The boyz from Mad Catz -- where all S's are Z's -- have just popped their own unboxification video onto the YouTubes, showing off the high-end Tournament Edition of the FightStick. Trust me when I say this product is rad -- to the MAX!!1 Seth has been chomping at the bit (not champing, but chomping, like a pirhana flower from a Mario game) to post his thoughts and impressions on the Mad Catz controllers for some time now, but he's been put on hold 'til January. Until he's given the green light to shower praises on the pad and sticks, feast yer peepers on the tantalizing hint of controller greatness above. And for the hundreds of thousands of you already cracking out on Super Turbo HD Remix -- thanks and Merry Xmas, by the way -- you're going to want one of these, too.
He shoulda tagged Ryu in: Hulk Vs Wolverine is smashtastic
Judging from the amount of email that Seth, Shawn and Christian and I receive on a nearly daily basis, there are a lot of Marvel vs Capcom fans out there (ProTip: import a copy of Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the Wii, guys). IGN has a new clip from the upcoming Marvel animated feature Hulk VS, which features the not-so-jolly Green Giant smashing up both Canada's number one export* and the God of Thunder hisself. While watching this clip, I couldn't help but think of all the ways Wolvie could have countered Hulk's attacks, including tagging in an air or projectile character to counter Hulk's ground-based combat. That said, I am a nerd. Hulk VS hits Blu-Ray and DVD Jan. 27.
*Note: Canada's number one export is actually Wolverine not, as previously assumed, the Barenaked Ladies, Pamela Anderson or William Shatner. Although the Shat does rule.
Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition details and new standard edition box for North America!
FINALLY! We’ve been in the lab for months now, tinkering away on both the Street Fighter IV packaging as well as the details for what the faithful will be receiving in the Collector’s Edition version of the game. Apologize for the delay on bringing you the official news, but as you can see, there have been some serious changes made. More after the jump!
First off: we’ve been listening to players for the last two months, collecting feedback on your thoughts and impressions on the SFIV box art, especially after images appeared showing the Japanese version. After collecting data from the Unity boards and comments, as well as from other sites like shoryuken.com and conducting some space-age focus tests with two-way mirrors and laser cats, we had a total re-think on our SFIV packaging. As a result of the studies, we have opted to drop the initial Chun-Li packfront in favor of Street Fighter IV art director Ikeno-san’s amazing Ryu vs Ken illustration. Simple, elegant and instantly recognizable. We think that you’ll agree that this image sums up SFIV in true “a picture is worth a thousand words” style. Shoryureppa!
Secondly: North American deets for the long-awaited Collector’s Edition! We’re not just throwing a craptacular “behind-the-scenes” video and “art book” with less images than you can find on any website into a cheesey tin box. Instead, we’re bringing you a gorgeous package that includes:
And then Seth is all "I like Street Fighter blahblahblah" on Gamespy
Miguel from Gamespy stopped by Capcom's offices to chat with Seth about Street Fighter last week, and I made sure to horn in because I am a self-important attention whore. Seth talked extensively about Street Fighter in ways that make me happy to be working at Capcom again, comparing and contrasting play styles between SF3 and SFIV in a way that made so much sense that I totally stole it and repeated it almost verbatim to the guys from FUEL TV a few nights later. Thanks for the lines, Seth!
Just to prove that Seth absolutely knows what he's talking about, here's embarassing video of him almost beating Alex Valle at Super Street Fighter II on the SNES* Super SFII Turbo, most likely the version on Street Fighter Collection.
* Once again, our loyal and accurate community points out that I do not know anything about our games. *sigh*
