'Cause when I think "Swedish Hip-Hop," I immediately think of Mega Man

Tuesday, October 20, 2009, 01:34 PM [Mega Man]

Why, yes, I do slap up a lot of music-themed posts, thanks for noticing. But when Joystiq points out that a white Swedish rapper is dropping jams about the Stockholm area code with an acompanying 8-bit video that casts said hippity-hopper as Mega Man? I'll be posting that with great alacrity, even withstanding the sudden influx of 8-bit and Mega Man-themed music as of late. Plus, I like it when Swedish musicians sing in English, as they are technically and grammatically perfect, but there's always something just a bit off with delivery. Word up to your mother, friend!

On The Spot features live RE Darkside Chronicles demo, Dark Void

Monday, October 19, 2009, 11:30 AM [Dark Void]

Gamespot's On The Spot featured not one but TWO awesome Capcom titles last week. First up, Mel and Matt stop by their studios for a live 2 player co-op demo of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles on the Wii at 5:50 into the show. Hey, if they can play that well from big, weird chairs, imagine what an awesome shot you'll be from the comfort of your own game cave. Next up, Shana gives a zippy fly-through of Dark Void from the Tesla event held in the Bay Area. Ooo, "god of the skies," I like that phrase. Thanks for the love, Gamespot!

    Quickman, slappin' da bass

Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 07:16 PM [Mega Man]

I'll be honest: I'm not really a reggae guy. I looooove ska, which is ironic, but I find most reggae to be superrepetitive. Dub, however, can be pretty cool, which explains my enjoyment of both The Clash and Gorillaz.

    Today, I received this email:

    Greetings Kramez!

I stumbled across your post about the Mega Man drumset and I figured you would like to check this out: My band, Destroy Babylon, just released a new single called "Mega Dub Inna Orbit City." The track features Scott Flynn on trombone from reggae greats John Brown's Body.

The chorus' melody is loosey based on Quickman's theme. We would be honored if you would post the track for the CapcomUnity! Please let me know if you would like any additional information on the band/track/etc. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

No problem, Marc! Check out Destroy Babylon's jam right here.

What do Ken, Chris and Dante have in common? Reuben, of course

    Friday, October 9, 2009, 08:20 PM [General]

Reuben Langdon should be familiar to Devil May Cry fans; Dante's face has more than a passing similarity to Reuben, as he's been providing the moves and voice  for the character since DMC3. He's done a done of work for Capcom over the years, including RE4, Lost Planet 2, Street Fighter IV (he did Ken's voice) and RE Darkside Chronicles. The Christian Science Monitor has an interview with him, where he talks about his history (he starred in a Japanese Power Ranger-type show!) as well as the future (he worked on Cameron's Avatar!). Plus, he's a super nice dude, as anyone who's met him at various anime, game and comic conventions can attest. If you've ever wondered what it takes to be an actor in the world of video game production, check this out.

Awesome Mega Man drumset and Hard Man theme

Thursday, October 8, 2009, 04:41 PM [Mega Man]

How crazy is this? Drummer Shane Wise of the Nashville-by-way-of-Vegas band Enjoy The Zoo clearly is a gigantic Mega Man nerd, as evidenced by his custom drumkit. I like the combo of classic 8-bit Mega Man stylings with oft-overlooked 16-bit Mega Man X on the kick. That's some serious Blue Bomber love, my friend.

Here's Shane pounding out the theme for Hard Man from Mega Man 3
