Announcing Resident Evil.net, a free online service for RE6

Aug 14, 2012 // Minish Capcom

In addition to three campaigns (four, including Ada Wong), Mercenaries mode and the new Agent Hunt mode, RE6 also launches with a massive online service called Resident Evil.net. This free site tracks all kinds of data pulled from your game – like proficiency with weapons, types of enemies killed or Mercenaries scores, to name a few – and allows you to compare it all against RE6 players around the world.

This not only lets you see how you compare to other players, but it also enables us to schedule online events that reward all participants with cool extras. For example, let’s say one weekend the goal is to kill 10,000 zombies. Everyone who has an RE.net account and plays during that time period will receive RE.net points that can be redeemed on the site for a variety of goodies – chief among them new costumes that appear in the actual game.

Each event will crown one player as the “winner,” and said player will receive the Champion belt. Now, that belt really likes to get around, so if you should win it one week, you’ll have to keep playing each event to retain the belt. There’ll also be a list of every player who earns the Champion belt, so even if you do lose it, you can at least prove you, once upon a time, were on top.

We’ll actually be streaming a very informative video about RE.net this Wednesday and Friday from GamesCom – it’ll be 11am German time though, so US folks may have to stay up late for that one.
