Capcom Arcade Cabinet – Fake Box Art Showcase Vol. 2

Mar 27, 2013 // Chris

Old school artists band together to create box art for Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Section Z and Gun.Smoke!

We’ve been giving out custom-made Capcom Arcade Cabinets Mad Catz fightsticks at a startling rate here on Unity. We gave out multiple sticks in our last Capcom Arcade Cabinet Art Contest , plus we just gave away a Ghosts N’ Goblins stick at PAX East to the winner of a GnG speedrun. But a few weeks ago we asked you to mock up some box art for the three games in Capcom Arcade Cabinet’s 3rd bundle, the 1985-I pack.

And today we’ve got a new victorious triumvirate! Our panel of judges have deliberated long and hard to select three champions from a sizable pile of awesome art (which you can see all of in our Gallery here.) So let’s move onto the Winner’s Circle!

A wonderful minimalist piece. Folks picking up the game based solely on that art a surely unprepared for the horror they have in store. And take a look at the awesome papercrafty stuff

The world really needs more hand drawn box art (and Section Z.) Plus I love the impending doom you can see reflected in the space ranger’s helmet

YES! Love it when people stick CAC games on long dead platforms. And without doing any research, I think the Virtual Boy is one of the few consoles Ghosts ‘N Goblins didn’t appear on.

Those people above just won themselves a Ghosts ‘N Goblins, Section Z, or Gun.Smoke arcade stick from Mad Catz. If you didn’t win this time, fear not, as a consolation prize for the rest of you please take not of your Unity profile. All participants have received an exclusive Firebrand badge just for playing. Here are some more of our favorites.
