DmC GamesCom footage – News flash for Bob Barbas

Aug 24, 2012 // GregaMan

Here’s another dose of GamesCom 2012 coverage with the full  DmC segment of Capcom’s press conference, with narration by Producer Alex Jones and gameplay footage courtesy of Ninja Theory’s masterful “pilot” Dominic Matthews.

If you haven’t already, you can check out the  Remember Me and Resident Evil 6 segments already posted earlier in the week.

Now hit the jump for  DmC!

As we are beginning to see, the game presents a much more Western interpretation of “demons” than we have seen in the brand’s manga-rific past incarnations. The demons of DmC operate secretly from the world of limbo to pervade and influence human society in subtle but deeply damaging ways. Quoth the Producer:

“This version of DmC is a little less fantastical in terms of the environment; it’s more modern, it takes place in kind of a cityscape area, but to pair with that, we’ve put in some of the same societal ills that we see in our real world.

Dante then leaps into the news station, platforming off TV graphics. Whoa.

“In addition to the news media, we’ll satirize other elements of societal ills and cultural excesses–media, finance, we’ll even take a few shots at reality TV and pop music while we’re at it. And in the game we will lay this all at the feet of. . . the pernicious demon influence that pervades humanity.”

Commence fight with demonic newscasterhead. Gotta hand it to them for breaking convention!

DmC comes out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 15th, 2013, followed later by a PC version. Expect more GamesCom coverage in the very near future.
