Okamiden Producer Blog: San Diego Comic Con

Sep 14, 2010 // Snow

Hello, everyone!  This is Eshiro, producer of Okamiden.  It’s been a while, how’re you doing these days?  In Japan, it’s extremely hot here… I’m sweating…

Recently, I’ve been traveling back and forth between Osaka (where CAPCOM Japan’s head office is) and Tokyo day by day, preparing for the coming release of Okamiden in Japan.  This word HOT just wouldn’t go off from my mind… hot, hot, hot…  Many people in Japan often say people who are born in the winter does not like hot summer and I’m one of them. HOWEVER, I LOVE summer anyway!  Especially the sunset, atmosphere colored with orange, blue, and purple gives me the sensation like I’m just a kiddo going home, looking for having dinner with family, during his unforgettable summer vacation.  After we’ve started revealing information about Okamiden, we’re started receiving many comments from our fans.  We appreciate it very much.  Thank you!!

Till launch of the game, we’re going to keep updating this blog with some other staff from the dev team and make it as entertaining for you, please stay tuned for more infos and updates!

So, back on track about this blog’s topic.  At the end of July, we were in San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) to exhibit our playable build ..  This event is very big where most of the entertainment is all gathered at this one place, from comics, movies, TV dramas, to videogames, targeting for consumers mainly, where you get to meet REAL costume players.  I found one who dresses up as troopers from that famous you know what movie, which I thought the person could actually appear in the actual movie!  It seems like people who participated the event from babies to grandpa/grandmas all enjoyed it in their own style so the event was very cheerful, bright and energetic.  To add more, people who tried out Okamiden seemed like they are having fun and I was very pleased.  Some actually tried their best to talk to me with passion, but thanks to my bad English ability, I just could not communicate my thoughts…  Sorry about that.

Still, I really could feel their passion to Okamiden and that was so moving for me.  I swore to myself to do my best to introduce Okamiden to the west, which is the spiritual successor of Okami, to more and more people in the world.  How memorable trip to the U.S. I had!  See you soon!

This picture is the limited Three Wolves T-shirt, which was the gift for a raffle at my autograph session.  Our US marketing manager put so much passion into it to create this awesome shirt so the person who actually got this T-shirt was incredibly happy and jubilated.
