Mickey's Magical Quest: Bet You Didn't Know It Was

Thursday, May 8, 2008, 02:05 PM [Capcom General]

Admit it. When you hear Mickey's Magical Quest, you don't immediately think "Capcom". I think it's rather safe to assume that most people didn't realize, or don't recall, that Capcom made surprisingly good platform games for Disney back in the day. GameTrailers.com takes a look at one of the classics, Mickey's Magical Quest, and inducts it into their Video Game Vault, moonwalking Goofy and all. This game definitely deserves the recognition as one of the most fun games from a time when games were simply about how much fun you had while playing it.

    Zen! I'm Achieving It

Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 04:57 PM [Capcom General]

    Okami_Alt1

There's news that Grand Theft Auto IV just surpassed Call of Duty IV as the most played game on Xbox Live. No doubt most of you, along with many of us here at Capcom, have been contributing to their success. However, is GTA4 something you want to play all the time? Can it satisfy all your gaming urges? Can it help you achieve zen? Tim Agne doesn't think so. Over on the mlive.com blog, Tim writes:
But an odd thing happened to me last week, and I feel the need to share it. I came home from work primed to uncork a gaming binge, but GTA IV just wasn't screaming at me. I didn't want to unload a workday's worth of frustrations in an explosive catharsis of car wrecks and homicides. I needed something more relaxing, more chill, more Zen. So I fired up the Wii and put in Okami.

    EventHub.com Makoto Character Guide

Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 04:44 PM [Capcom General]

450px-Makoto_SFWith all the buzz about Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Street Fighter IV, it may seem that Street Fighter III: Third Strike (aka "3S") is once again being left forgotten. Just in time to remind that 3S is still one of the best fighters there is, EventHubs.com, a site focused on all things Third Strike-y, has posted a brand new character guide, this time focusing on Makoto.
Makoto is one of the best fighters in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. Most players put her right around the 4th best overall character in the game, although some feel she's higher or lower based on their own preferences. Very few people argue about how excellent she is in the right hands though. Makoto's tactics are frustrating and deadly to beginning and mid-level players, and yet she's still one of the best fighters against top competition.
Ask and ye shall receive it seems. Thanks for the tip, Jon.

    Mega Wall

Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 11:41 AM [Capcom General]

Spotted on dergutemoritz's Flickr pool (Thanks Liz for the Google Reader share!), these are a sequence of images documenting how a classic NES Mega Man was made from lots 7x7cm paper squares totaling about 2m in height. Check out the Flickr pool for bigger pictures and brief instructions on how to create your own Mega Wall. I wonder if we have enough paper around here to make one for our wall...

    Hey, Hey Street Fighter!

Monday, May 5, 2008, 05:50 PM [Capcom General]

I think it's unfair that Kotaku has people sending them tips for cool news, but we don't. That's how they can have awesomely cool posts such as the following Street Fighter music mash-up video. Created by Hyadain, it's an awesome Street Fighter theme song remixed with tons of actual Street Fighter sound effects. Actually, I don't know if it's a theme song, because it's mostly in Japanese, but they do say "Street Fighter" a lot in the lyrics. In any other circumstance, this would be horrible tacky and bad, but as always is the case with things like this, it's another case of it's-so-bad-it's-awesome!

It is now my mission to find the MP3 of this.

    Via Kotaku.
