Matchmaking would be awesome. Especially if it was ANYTHING like Halo or Call of Duty 4's multiplayer matchmaking. I don't want playlists being there one minute, and gone the next, but maybe a double EXP or something would work. Also, make player matches host decided, like CoD/Halo custom games. That way you aren't FORCED to do matchmaking like in GoW2. Even though they have a custom game lobby, it fails in comparison to CoD's/Halo's. I would like to at least see a party system in Lost Planet so I can play with friends, rather than go in with people I play well with, and have us all seperated off onto seperate teams.

I almost never hosted in the first game. I could sit there for 10 minutes and not get more than a couple people popping in then leaving once nobody else joined. Another problem I had was not even being able to see all of the matches that were up. I'd be in a party and my friends would suggest matches to join and it wouldn't show up for me. |

I noticed in the demo that everytime you try to join a room that is full, you have to do another search. Please, fix this. |

Also, mark rooms that have private slots correctly. Currently in demo, they will show games that have less then 4 players, but whenever you try to join, it says all slots are full. And yet it will appear in search many times in a row. Those games likely are games with private slots and so they should be marked something like 2 +2 so that you know the public slots are full. |

I like to be able to customize my games and I want to be able to play on the same team as my friends so here is what I suggest Capcom try a mix between the two systems. People should still be able to host their own games with custom settings but when searching for a game you have to choose your preferred settings (i.e. game mode, time limit, max players, etc.) as you currently have to do in LP but when you search, instead of showing you a list of available rooms, the system finds the game with the best connection and adequate room for your party. This would be the "quick match" option but you should also be able to view the server lists and select a game manually incase the matchmaking system is broken at launch. To insure the teams are balanced on a skill level, you have five options: "Don't care", "match my level (Mercenary)" (game selects closes match, say within 10 level), "All levels (Mercenary)", "match my level (party)" and "All levels (party)". As in CoD4, mercenary means that you don't want to be matched to people playing in a party. For people in a party the system would just take the average level of all player in the party and use that to match players. I know one thing for sure - I wouldn't have loved LP as much as i did if a matchmaking system through me on to Pirates Fortress all the time because that was the only game people wanted to play. |

"Host" in Halo & COD is a technical network term regarding which P2P client is determined to have the best centralized relationship between all the other clients. This player is assigned "host" behind the scene, and as their client machine is running the actual game server instance they experience little to no latency. They do not pick a custom game and settings and start a lobby and then wait for players, they search within a playlist like everyone else and subsequently "hosting" is intended to be an automatic and seamless network process. When Blackjack is referring to "hosting" in LP he is talking about being able to create an individual lobby with custom game settings. Imagine if you could search Custom Games within Halo, and you pretty much have the system from LP, or at least Colonies. You can search within an overall gametype for open lobbies, or you can drill down to adjust specific settings to find games that are being hosted with similar preferences within that gametype. I appreciate and enjoy the latter system for many reasons, number one being ease of use and options available to the player. You can see connection speed and type, and a lot of other info about the games in the overall lobby view, and that gives you choices. You don't get dumped into some random game with half your team split off into a gametype you didn't even want to play. I also despise manipulating customers into buying DLC by restricing their experience with a game they've already paid for, which is generally what occurs with "playlist" and "EXP" based systems, especially "double exp" events. If you give me a game and let me do what I want with it I'll gladly pay for more content without having my arm twisted Just thought I'd throw that out there as that seems to be the main point of confusion in this discussion.
