whitescreen hardlock/freeze

Everytime i play the game, after a while the screen suddenly goes blank white (or just freezes) the music keeps going, but nothing can be done except an unexpected reboot. i have all drivers up to date. installed the patch.


windows xp


xfx geforce 8600 gts


 


amd athlon X2 4200+


kingston 1gb ram.


and way more than enough space on my HD.


what can i do about this problem, cause like this its infuriating to play the game having to do an unexpected reboot every 15 minutes

can you still play? like if you throw a grenade can you hear it explode? if so your video card might be getting damaged or too hot. what temps does your video card run at in the game? have this problem with anything else? and are you overclocking or volt modding?

no when the crash happens i cant play anymore, the screen either goes blank or freezes, music either keeps going or goes into a loop. im not overclocking or voltmodding. But the temp might be the prob. i just did a test (played the game till the crash) and it did feel hot to the touch. (touched the backplate with the connectors) anything i can do about that besides putting in an extra casefan to blast directly onto it?

well download gpuz: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1207/TechPowerUp_GPU-Z_v0.2.8.html. it will tell you the temperatures of the video card and you can tell it to log temps. have it log the temps and then check to see what it is getting to. and if you play until it crashes see what the temperature was around the time it crashed.

values above are from when the game crashed. during playing the temp went gradually up from 50 ºC to 83-86 ºC

change the fan speed to 100% whenever you play and see if that makes a difference. you can change the fan speed with riva tuner right here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163
