Marvel vs. Capcom 3 should be a next-gen beat-em up using MvC2 sprites.

yeah X-Men Arcade was 6 players originally.

But imagine if you guys use the MvC2 sprites and create a massive 2-D beat-em up?  with everyone from MvC2 playable (no other beat em up offers that many playable.)  in the team.

and they have all their moves, and maybe the control scheme could be similiar to Guardian Heroes, where the moves are performed like fighting games, but there 3 positions to switch to (high, middle, low) on the field.  so like there could be 4 attack buttons like MvC2, and the other 2 buttons can be used to switch position on the field (up, down), since up and down would be used for crouching and jumping.  The switching positions buttons can also be used as a means of avoiding attacks too.

and the backgrounds could be 3-D like MvC2, but much wider like a beat-em up stage.  and cooperation would be the fun factor between friends.

that would be really intense!    especially if there adventure has massive stages and lots of stages too

with their own original bosses and stuff.     It would be better than any Final Fight, that's for sure.

That would be better than making MvC3 just another fighting game because all that can be improved is adding more characters and backgrounds.   But only Capcom can rejuvenate the beat'em up genre by designing MvC3 as a epic 4-6 player 2-D beat'em up using the sprites from MvC2, and original  enemies and bosses, while having epic 3-D background and interesting level design that flows smoothly and keeps things interesting.  :)

I mean seriously, even though MvC2's sprites may seem outdated, they are gorgeous compared to all the 2-D beat em ups out there.  And with everyone from MvC2 playable, MvC3 can have plenty of replay value, especially if there are branching stages like Guardian Heroes (which it didn't invent but I just use that game as an example).     Capcom can make it happen!

I'd rather just see that X-men game get rereleased.

Dude, I hate beatem up's. I understand your concept and will admit it would be a good concept for a beatem up, but that particular genre is really outdated. most recent beatem up are watered down in difficulty and try to merge game genre's because there isn't much more that can be done with that genre without branching out.

It's only your opinion that you think it would be the best thing since sliced bread. We have every right not to like your idea.

All they could do is add more characters and backgrounds if it were another fighter? Yeah, I'm the small minded one.

Greatness? What greatness? This concept isn't even a full concept, like how would you translate all the Capcom character's moves, and how many people would even want a dumbed down SF character? Beat'em ups are outdated, and don't tend to have much replay value as well as very little depth. Plus what would the story be? There's got to be a driving force for the linear games that beat'em ups are. Even when I look at your concept of the game it doesn't seem appealing to me what so ever, it's completely vague, and unoriginal.

I'd rather have another Cannon Spike than MvC series turned into some beat'em up game. While you may like this idea, I don't. Which is my opinion.

Beat 'em up doesn't equal fighting game in my head ;D You are the greater mind so I wont argue. I do like the way the older sprites looked, so colorful and bright but once you get over 50 characters I think the choices are way too over whelming.

It's almost like saying we want the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weapons/grenades/powerups in a side-scrolling shooter.  It's just a bit too complex IMO.  BeatEmUps are meant to be simple and sort of like a fun party game.  Nothing against Side Scrolling Shooters though, I love Metal Slug.

The idea sucks, and would get boring quickly.  The AI wouldn't be enough to keep things interesting, and you'd be able to do the same combos over and over, and how would air combos work?  You can't do them without causing problems for everyone that's on the ground, no one wants the camera taken off the screen because somone accidentally launched.  And, who would the bosses be?

We don't need a new game using 15 year old sprites.  A game like Tekken can get away with a beat-em-up because it's 3D, and you aren't fighting all over the screen, and you can lock onto characters.  You can't lock onto a character in a 2D fighter, it would make it frusterating.  Marvel Vs. Capcom isn't meant to be a beat-em-up.  The massive amount of moves each character has Vs. the low amount of life the basic enemies would have would make things boring.

The only way a beat em up will work is if the super jump is removed, characters are limited to 1 reasonable hyper (Jin's Blodia vulcan would never work correctly in a game like this).  And the cast of playable character is limited to 10.  And, the combos for each character are re-worked, because everyone has the same universal zig-zag combo.

AI's don't play like humans.

Not a good idea.

If capcom wanted another beat em up they would make another Final Fight in 2d. Though doubtful considering they tried bringing back Final Fight and it bombed hard.
