As a Capcom gamer i am appalled at their inability to give gamers like me a chance to get marvel vs capcom 2 after all not everyone has a ps3 or xb360 and high speed internet required to download the game its just unfair, just rerelease it on ps2 by itself or in a collection like the mega man anniversary collection or capcom classics.  So if anyone at capcom is reading this please hear our pleas, Please.

License issues ruin the fun for everyone. Besides, the game is selling well on Xbox360 and PS3, so i doubt they would bother to return to re-release this on older platforms.

It was already released on ps2, in a small run, but if you decide to ebay a copy or buy it used on gamestop, for its rarity, its going to cost you a arm and a leg. Maybe a kidney too.

Best to just wait until you get a next gen console and download a GOOD port of this game. Unless your hard pressed to get this on playstation 2, be ready to shell out about 100$ for a copy.

We currently don't have plans for a PS2 re-release, but here are just a few of the prohibitive factors that we have to think about just to give you an idea that it's not something we can just do like flipping a switch:

-Cost to have a license from Marvel to re-release a PS2 version.  This would need a new agreement.

-Marketing costs to promote the re-release.  It's not really worth it if no one knows about it.

-There is a minimum amount that manufacturing will make.  We cannot just run a few hundred or so.

-The demand for the product.

I know there's a lot of other things I'm missing also.  If the math for all of those factors doesn't really add up, it's really hard to justify the re-printing.

Fortunately, I just checked ebay and it seems PS2/Xbox copies have gone down significantly in price.  I'm sure with enough tenacity, you might be able to get one for a reasonable price.

:3 A lot of old ardcades might have the games as well. We have a small arcade in a bowling place and it still has X-men vs Street Fighter, which I find amazingly great.

Not for the PS2, but for the PS360 people, I would really like to see the old games with online capacity.  MVC2 is a wonderful game, but there are a lot of things about it that irritate a lot of people.  They've done Street Fighter Alpha and the old KOF games, for crying out loud.  SF vs X-men and the other games in the series would makefor great small ports.  They each had a lot of charm and personality in them that MVC2, while epic, does not have.

And I know, probably not going to happen, demand and licensing and yada yada... Sad.  With the sole exception of ultimate spider-man, marvel hasn't had a good game done for AGES.  the MVC series did it better than any of the more modern games.

Kind of funny, considering that Capcom's a Japanese company doing runs of Marvel's american characters.  You'd think they'd lose more in the double-localization.  They don't, really.  Capcom deserves the Marvel license a whole lot more than the people who've had it recently. Maybe Disney will realize that and get it right...  *shudder*  I doubt it.

Can't deny, it would be awesome.  A nerd can dream.

On top of that, I don't think CAPCOM USA makes PS2 games anymore.

What do you mean they've done Alpha and KOF? If you're talking about the PSone re-releases, those are just that, offline PSone games.

I'm not sure if it requires individual licenses for each PSone VS game but I assume yes, and that's probably why we'll never see them on PSN. I agree though, I like those games better.

I don't see why they would rerelease MVC2 since that is already on the PS2 (and not as hard as find as ebay and forums make it seem. I see that game at least five tiems a year at Gamestop...but it will set youy back $50). As for a rerelease of MVC...it probably needs it. It was underexposed on the Dreamcast. And the original Playystation port was reallly  done in vain (popular platform, poor hardware). It deserves a proper treatment.

Hm. If anything Capcom is probably gonna re-release all the games on the PS3. The PS2 (you have to admit) is a dead console. By 2010, it'll be at its 10th year and I already see developers trying to move away from the PS2 in favor of the PSP and the PS3.

not really, i know people who still plays with their PS2 or its games, Its alot common than you think, btw i dont think Capcom should rerelease MvC2. The game already had its fun in the sun for a while now and i would rather for them to go for Xmen vs. SF.

I never said that people don't play their PS2 games. Heck, I still play PS2 (and DS and PSP) games still. But that's because I don't have a PS3 yet.

My point was that it's about time that develoeprs start to move away from the PS2 and go to the PS3.

And you know what? Developers are going to the PSP and PS3 these days instead of PS2.

Example?

Take a look at developer, CyberConnect2. They made announcements about Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Accel 3. It's moving to the PSP. The Narutimate series (aka Ultimate Ninja) was a PS2 exclusive (the main ones) with side games being released on the PS2 and the PSP. But now, a main game from the Naruto fighting games is moving to the PSP.

Another support for the PS3 (if we got a "Vs" series compilation or whatever) is that digital distribution is more likely to see the "Vs" games come true as it'd be a digitial release and no costs to print out instruction booklets, print the discs, and assemble it all at the factory. That and also because Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 ihas been digitally released.

So in my ideal situation, I would want all the "Vs" games getting a digital download game release.
