Leave MvC2 alone.

I remember when Ono was asked about mvc3 and he said that he didnt want to be the one at the helm of balancing 50 or more characters if such a game was to happen, something to that effect. So I made this thread to pitch in ideas on how to balance the character roster if an mvc2 nex gen remake or an mvc3 ever happens. Feel free to input your ideas as well.

Here are my idea on how to balance the roster in a future mvc game....

-Remove all infinities, if any fighting game has infinites then its obviosly broken, fix it!

-Remove all triangle jumping, yes, that's right I'm talking about you Magneto and Storm

-Slow down Magneto and Storm just a bit

-Give everyone the ability to air dash, because some characters like the Hulk can barely move around

-Remove Cable's pistol, have him ONLY use it as his d+fierce punch move, his default stance will be him holding his viper beam instead. Similar to how Saki in tvc wields a gatling gun. Just improve Cable's close up combo game so that way he isnt a total vegtable without his pistol when people get in his face.

-Remove Cable's AHVB all together, including the tiger knee AHVB.

- Reform Capcom's roster bring in their heavy hitters, there is no reason why almost half of capcom's roster is from Street Fighter. Ryu/Chun Li/Alex is more than enough. For all those Akuma/Ken fans just give Ryu back his ability to change shoto forms from mvc1. No reason to waste characters boxes on shoto clones, and as a gimmeck give ryu the ability to use Dan's moves, PINK KI TRANSFORMATION!

- Big characters like Sentinel and PTX-40A can only be teamed up with ONE character instead of 2.

-Can you have King Servbot be playable?

Anyway the whole point of this thread is to make some changes that in the next mvc game(if it ever happens) that at least EVERY character can hold their own, like in mvc1. That's really all Im aiming for.

First off,  having ki transformations for ryu would suck beacuse it would require a certain button combonation to do it, much like Akuma & Dan's Finisher 1 hit kill.

Second,  Cable should stay the same,

Third,  I agree with slowing down magneto and storm just a bit

Fourth,  They should add more marvel characters other than random xmen characters we don't know about  (*cough* marrow *cough*)

Fifth,  METTSATSU GADOKEN!

Marvel vs capcom 3 should add the "mega crush" (taking 1 level of power not 2) of Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the infinites, and some new characters to refresh the game.

keeping the same platform or structure for the same speed of the game and the same button configuration.

No more changes for me, this game is the most awesome ever made.

If they do a thrid one, just make every character to at least have the ability to hold their own. And just eliminate the infinites(not that I have a real issue with them) and implement the same system from tvc. Of course keep 3 on 3 duh.

Also ki transformations for Ryu is perfectly fine, there is no point in adding 3 billion shoto clones when you can replace with REAL characters and just give the shoto clone moves to Ryu.

Air dash with characters like Juggarnaut and Hulk would be sweet. Cause they can't move at all to save their lives.

Also make King Servbot a playable character, cause that would be epic

Yeah, I don't like these suggestions either. Those things are why we play Marvel.

& I think you might be missing the point. Balancing a game is a very difficult process. Having a game with over 50 unique characters AND tight tiers is near impossible.  Look at SFIII, it has less than half of the characters Marvel has, yet tournament players only use 3 characters. (Yun, Chun Li, & Ken) Despite what the devoloper's intentions were, players always find out certain combos & tricks that the devs themselves did not know about.

I suspect if there was an MvC3 & they chose to have over 50 characters, it would be the same old Marvel.

It's either that, or we get a slightly more balanced game with half the characters. I personally prefer how broken the game is. It's a change of pace for me.

100% not true, almost every character in SF 3 is used in tournament play and if not can be used in tournament. Also I was talking about a nex gen remake or a thrid one. Mostly a third one. NOT THE CURRENT MVC2, DUH!

It wouldn't be MvC if it wasn't broken. Even if they tried there hardest to balance the game, they would still piss someone off because they will find something to complain about.

The brokeness of the game is actually what makes it so fun and hectic. Plus slowing down the character is no good. Just make the others faster and give some of them a airdash and thats all you need. The intense speed and madness of whats going on the screen with assists flying and supers cancelling is what makes it so fun.

Just look at XvS. It still played to this day at Evo and other tournys from time to time. It has a scene.

Marvel Vs Street Fighter however, does not. They toned the game down BIG time, was very slow and imo, was very dull. And no one plays it anymore. All the VS games are played besides Marvel Vs SF for this reason. Be fast, frantic and chatoic and its awesome. Thats what the VS. series is all about.

Or be like MvSF and be dull ._.

They can be used in tournament play, but top players usually use Chun, Ken,  & Yun because they are the 3 dominant characters. Just like you usually see people using MSP when playing Marvel.

I know you were talking about a sequel or remake, but that's something Marvel players just don't want to see for the most part. Just look at the responses you are geting here.

Giving everyone air dash and making them faster would be a start.

Also xvsf, was extremely broken and boring at best, it was just a matter of who can pull their infinite first.

marvel vs street fighter, was better than xvsf

mvc, was epic. That crazy move which you can do where you get unlimited supers for a certain time period was crazy, why not bring that back to mvc2?

I'd like to see Justin Wong pull of an infinite combo with anybody in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, of course the Wii remote will have to be implemented cause I'm sure it can be done no hassle with a fightstick. But most likely he'll complain like Gootecks over wireless controller lag/input delay lol
