Im going with 2d also everyone recognizes most of their favorite marvel super heroes and villians in comic book form which is closer to 2d so 2d it is for me

With 2d capcom is LIMITED with what they can do. For example, the dramatic cutscenes during the lvl 3 supers in tvc looked FANTASTIC IN 3d, if they were in 2d they would look UGLY AND BORING!!!! Seriously take Saki's lvl 3 super for example, in order for it to look good it REQUIRES 3d effects. Now imagine if it looked 2d, it would look ugly and flat. When I first saw ryu's shinkuu hadoken in tvc i was AMAZED, it looked 100 times better than the one in mvc2. Also we've seen 2d reach it's limits, capcom already proved that with 3rd strike, now its time to MOVE ON. Plus if you can't recognize your super heroes from the previous installments in 3d then you are either BLIND, MENTALLY ILL OR JUST PLAIN STUPID. Also I dont think Capcom would use the same  EXACT style of models that they did with SF IV also with mvc3 because I think they already know that that would fit the series. Overall 2d is washed up, KOF XII's graphics weren't all that cracked up to be and Blazblue has been seen before *cough*guilty gear*cough the only difference is that they made the sprites bigger and smoother, THATS IT? Hd remix graphics where cool FOR REMAKING SF II, for mvc3 they would look HIDEOUS AND UGLY.

playing mvc2 and as fun of a great game it is , and now playing sf4 and tvc:cgoh ,it's like controlling paper cut outs, dont get me wrong i love mvc2, but the animation, the amazing character models that still (well to me) have the same look and soul of their old 2d counterparts, the tatsunoko characters look exactly like their source material, and to see the marvel characters in either the tvc engine or sf4 engine would make the game worth the wait

There's nothing on a third installment quite this moment.

A response is also in the Ask Capcom FAQ.

And yet the NES's Ninja Gaiden I-III's cutscenes and story still blow away even today's cutscenes.
