I was checking various sites on how to unlock Akuma and Gouken. According to gamefaqs, you have to get Sakura, Rose, Gen, Cammy, Fei long, Dan, beat the game getting at least 2 perfects and winning with at least 2 ultra combos in order to get Akuma to challenge you, then beat him. For Gouken, it's 2 perfects and 3 ultra finishes. This isn't entirely true. I did it, however I lost a round(not a match) just a round against Seth, and while Gouken challenged me the first time I tried, and I beat him, I didn't get either him or Akuma. The second time I did it, I didn't lose any rounds. Akuma challenged me and I beat him and got him. I don't have the strategy guide so I dunno what the official deal is, but play it safe and don't lose any rounds. If anyone out there knows the official, way please post it....it's help to ppl who don't wanna have to play through the game being very careful and not knowing they messed up...

I had the same problem after looking at mulitple guides that listed different ways to unlock them. I tried a few things and these ways seemed to work for unlocking both Akuma and Gouken (for me at least). |

I also set it to very easy and one round to get Akuma and Gouken. Also the official strategy guide has false info on how to unlock the two. It says to beat the game with the original 16 characters to get Akuma and then beat the game with Akuma to get Gouken. It wasted a lot of my time. controlcommerce |

When I played through I was able to unlock Gouken even though I lost a round against Seth.
BrianI'm not sure about Akuma because I didn't lost any rounds with him. I'm pretty sure that as long as you get 2 perfects, 2 ultra combo finishers and beat the game without using continues then Akuma will challenge you, do the same but with 3 and Gouken should challenge you. As long as you beat them both you should unlock them, you might have to unlock Akuma first thats what I did.
