Gamepro's Blake Snow and Dave Rudden have written up an interesting piece on the appeal of retro gaming and it features Mega Man 9 and some choice quotes from our very own Kramez.
The charm of retro-styled games is so strong, in fact, that developers such as Capcom have begun releasing new games using retro technology. "The past five years have taught us that you don't necessarily need cutting edge graphics to make a great new game," says Chris Kramer, alluding to the rise in retro, not to mention the popularity of the graphically-challenged Wii.
To put their money where their mouth is, Capcom released Mega Man 9, the first sequel in the main series since 1996, utilizing a style very reminiscent of the original NES installments. Kramer stated "Since the success of Mega Man 9, we've already begun considering what other classic Capcom titles should live again."
We briefly touched on this subject in our previous ReBirth post, so be sure to let your voice be heard in the comments over there!
Two celebrated Capcom franchises received spots on a recent list from ScrewAttack: 7 Achievements That Will Make You Cry.
First off, Mega Man 9 makes it on the list at #5 for its painful Gamer's Day achievement, requiring players to complete the game 5 times within 24 hours.
Dead Rising nearly makes the top spot at #2 for its excruciatingly difficult 7 Day Survivor achievement, requiring players to play for 14 straight hours and survive against hordes of zombies.
Did any of you out there get these two achievements? How difficult was it for you?
In celebration of the Japanese release of Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star, the folks over at the Mega Man Network have revealed a project that they have been working on for the past few months: a fan-made remix of the original Mega Man Battle Network soundtrack! We're revving up for our Netlix 360 Capcom Community Night tomorrow, and we've narrowed down our choices. Keep in mind that we have not tested the choices for party compatibility, so the list may change if the movie is not supported by party chat.
We'll be starting the movie/show at 7:30PM PST tomorrow, so that gives us enough time to play games afterwards if people would like to do so.
Vote below for your choice! And don't forget, to reserve your spot over in the forums.
