I like both but BN doesn't have any replay value, and it is too easy to complete, unlike the classic, Aside from the names and characters the games really don't have anything in common.

I prefer BN but only because it is what got me to play MM

Most of the answers here, were based on nostalgia. Which is fine, but in an unbiased comparison, I'd have to say The Megaman EXE (BN) series stands out much more to me.

In the Classic series, the story is straight to the point. Stop Wily. But EXE had a much better story, with the WWW, Nebula, Darkchips, etc. (The classic series had the Evil energy thing, but it was scrapped for the nostalgia in Megaman 9)

In terms of designs, EXE's are much more detailed, simply to the point on where they look better than the classic series.

Gameplay is based on your tastes. But I prefer RPG's.

Overall, EXE is a more satysfying experience for me.

EXE was better cause it had some secret crossovers and MM was based "Defeat This Boss, the other boss, next boss,Next,Next,Final Boss ._.

My personal oppinon is that the EXE series is better yes I know that the original is supposed to be the crowning jewel of the series and it is a CLOSE second but I have more fond memories of EXE and the battle system was great and especialy the summers EXE provided for me and my close friends as we were kids and then maturing teenagers..

Let's see here. The Classic Megaman series is probably better if you want more of a challenge and are into the older installments. However, Battle Network has its own list of pros being a RPG based game. Not to mention it's real time instead of turn based. Also the characters are more relatable since they face more than cyber problems. But problems influenced by the real world in cyber world. I have to say both!

no bass.exe equals no fun in megaman battle network

bass.exe is like a legendary pokemon you cant wait to get to him and defeat him because he's so cool!

and the ACTION RPG system is pretty cool,but...

one similarity...TEDIOUS EXPERIMENTING!

Classic megaman : 7 fails, 1 robot master weakness!

Battle Network: 30 chips, millions of COMMBOS!! OMGZ!

but i like all the megaman games so i dunno? classic is simpler....?
