We can assume that Orbital Elevators have been roughly initiated since about X5. X6 at the latest for earliest time. It is just MMX8 is based around Jakob, that particular Orbital Elevator. Though I don't recall, but it was several months between X7 and X8. And only real source for said times is source books that are not localized outside Japan...


 


Zero Complete Works might say something... I doubt it, but I'll double check...

MMZOCW doesn't really seem to address the specifics of the orbital elevators in such a fashion.


And yes, plural, as I believe there have been at least 3; the one in X8, the one in Command Mission, and if I remember right, Area X in MMZ is another one altogether.

Area X2 in Zero 3 is also an Orbital Elevator shaft. That would make at least 4 separate references.
