For some people this may sound like a stupid question but heres why Im asking it: In the dialogue between X and Sigma in MMX5, in the last fight, Sigma says exactly that: "......hes an excellent partner. I believe you two KNOW EACH OTHER, in fact he used to be a COMRADE OF YOURS..." We all know that Sigma is talking about Dr.Wily, but how Wily an X "know each other" I mean, X is supposed to be a robot born from scratch after the events of the classic saga, and he was awakened for the first time by Dr.Cain. Now, the part of COMRADE OF YOURS is really confusing, I guess I dont need to explain why....Wily was a comrade of Megaman and Dr.Light and X was "born" yeeeeeeears later. Any thoughs?

That is mostly chopped up due to English localization. But the best acceptance of that speech is that it is Comrade. Combat comrade. As in enemy. If one enemy looses his nemesis, he looses his reason to live, type of thing.
Plus if you go back far enough, Light and Wily used to work with each other. So it could be Comrade, as in an ex buddy of your father, type of thing.
But basically X5 wasn't translated the best, just like X2. And the point is twisted and hard to recognize.
Oh, and to nip it it the butt, X is not Rock. They are 2 seperate robotic individuals.

When he refrences Wily as an old ally of X, if we are to assume that X is Mega Man (which I believe he isn't) then he would have to be refrencing either MM3 or MM&B. One might try to bring up the story about Wily being an assistant to Light, but that story only appeared in the English manual I believe, the japanese story and the remake Mega Man Powered Up don't support this, MMPU's manual implies that Wily's conquest was revenge for getting kicked out of the robotics institute, and no prior contact with Light is implied. Also, if my memory is correct, if you're using Zero for X5's last stage, Sigma's diologue seems to indicate that Sigma himself aren't entirely aware who his "partner" is, since he seems to be honestly asking Zero about his identity.

As Zechs said, it's likely a result of a somewhat botchy translation. Alternatively it could refer to a more metaphorical sense of the term, at various points in time Dr. Light was an ally to Dr. Wily, and since Dr. Light is an ally of X, then in a sense Wily was ana lly of X in a indrect sense.

For the most part, it's best not to think too hard about the Wily/Wily-ish plot threads in X5 or X6, save for Zero's in X5, as the whole thread runs directly off a cliff. --LBD "Nytetrayn" |

I personally stopped listening to the storyline after X4, X4 too me was the best game you could deliver but after that I just stuck to gameplay.

X and Megaman are two different entitees. though X is reffered to as Megaman in some games. But I agree It maybe a lost in translation type of thing. though it doesn't seem to affect the story line since that's X5 and X6-8 aren't effected by it. |

They are not affected because they continue the story. MegaMan X that was used within X2 was a localization error. Technically it would be more like MegaMan: X. X being the new entity and name. MegaMan being the series and the base for the successor...

But if Im not wrong, in MHX Light says "Im the man who desing and build MEGAMAN X"...in other words X name IS MegaManX...so acutally theres nothing wrong in calling him MegaMan.
