It would be like Zero in X3. Using him until he 'dies' and is no longer optionable.

Mega Man X7 is infamous for it's 3D environment. However, the only thing that really stagnated it was the slow pace. Slow paced gaming isn't as tolerable in 3D games as it is in 2D/2.5D. Mega Man X9 3D adventure COULD work if they incredily sped up the game play, make the maps a little more bigger and a little less linear for the stages. Along with some better looking models and environments. Another gripe with 3-Dimentional play was X7's difficulty, they would have to improve on boss fights as well.

Mega Man 9 may have been a success in terms of sales, but I don't really want Capcom taking the retro route for any and most future original and X. Having game play that lives up to modern standards is as equally as important to much of the fanbase, myself included.

In terms of graphics, I'd like to see X9 in 2D but with an HD sheen that's all the rage these days. As long as they manage to keep the original "weight" of the 16-bit and Playstation era sprites, I'll be fine with it.

As for gameplay... I got nothing. It has to be fun, I suppose. By the way, X4 is my favorite out of the series.

Well, if Mega Man X went completly 2D I dont think it would be the same. Mega Man X8 was such a huge improviment over the past two Mega Man games before it. I would not ever want to ruin a formula that isnt brocken. Stick with 2.5D or 3D capcom.

Yeah! I would totally prefer if they made a Mega Man X9, but with the concept of the early games in the series
