So, I was listening to Brilliant Show Window ~ Shooter Trance on a whim today, and I noticed something in the cover art for the album Rockman ZX Tunes that I thought might make for a stimulating conversation. Here's the album art, for reference: www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/index.php?titl... If you locate the CAPCOM logo in the upper-right corner, then follow the cable next to it until you reach the plug-end, and look below it, you'll see that Model X (the armor itself) has what appears to be an SD Memory card or a Battle Chip that is stored in the connector (just above the cheekguard?). ---- Personally, I wonder what this is for, more than anything else. What does he need to store in there? And how many gigabytes do you think it's worth? ;) |

That piece of artwork is merely a concept to act as a 'Cover' to that OST. It has nothing to do with that in-game canon. Plus, going with that, why is there a need for a Compact Disc and a CD Player seen on the let?
There is none. It is merely a visual representation that the Music can be stored on CD or on a Memory Card/Stick.
It is rhetorical in the ultimate sence... But to post in accordance to the question, it probably holds 100X more than we have now. Remember, it is more than 300 years into the 'Future'.

Ah, you had to go and ruin the fun. :P Of course it's not a part of the canonical things, but it was still fun to take it as such, in that it would otherwise show how the helmet of Model X is pieced together. And forget the storage space. When a chunk of metal the size of your fist can form a complete set of armor with plasma gun included, one need not question reality any further. ;) |

I'll play along. If a material the size of your fist is capable of altering your body, then I'd sispect a chip of that size to be somewhat of a brain all it's own. It does go into the back of the head (to some degree).

Ah, good point. I wonder if it regulates the Model when in use, similarly to the parts of the brain that regulate voluntary actions. If it was anything like Acid Ace, it would also probably regulate combat calculations, one would have to think. The details on it at the Satellite Server did mention that it has high computing power. |

It would most likely regulate optical calculations, audio understanding, internal communication with the Model... Weapons and tactical callculations... It would be like the 'Persona' pulling the strings.

Or that could be Model X's brain. after all, there isnt room for much of a broin when theres a CD in your head. and the X biometal itself has a CD in it. playing along, it could be where model X's conciousness is stored when rocked on. which could connect with the "headphones" since Model X, as Vent said talks to them in their head. |

Indeed. I covered the Brain idea in a post or 2 up. But it is the more logical conclusion. The small chip in that advanced age would be more 'Optical' and there fore far more in depth for such data.

Or what if it wasn't part of Model X proper, but a new biometal combo, like Model I(pod)X? The SD chip isn't a requirement or inherent part of the Model X, but an add-on for added functionality. Personality, I wouldn't mind the addition of a new biometal, even if it doesn't do more than allow players to access a jukebox. With the DSi's capability of downloading tunes from an online store, it may be a nice touch. |

They did something like that in Metal Gear Solid 4. With the Ipod function. They had unlockable songs, earned songs and Podcasts that can be heard.
I'd assume that the Chip would be part of the forging process for the BioMetal. In order to procure the Cyber Elf consciousness within the BioMetal itself. Thus the mind is there for part of the 'body'. Essentially.
