WHat do you guys make of the world of Starforce? Are you particular touched or impressed by it? To me, Starforce seems to focus on Man's search for extra terrestrial life. Radio waves can theoretically bounce around in space forever, and if there's intelligent life out there, they've probably been watching our tv shows for decades. I think that's why the Mr. Progs (and even Geo's hair) were designed to resemble antennas. So if the search for extraterrestrial life was one theme, then it makes sense why the first game focused on how lonely Geo was (in a seemingly big and empty universe). Have any of you guys ever stargazed and wondered about life, or the expanse of the universe? |

I can't rightly remember how fast radio waves travel, but if I remember right, their place on the spectrum is lower than light, so I'm sure it's a tad slower. Erg, the point being that they probably haven't arrived on any extraterrestrials' planet(s) yet, and won't for some time. I can't rightly say I've stargazed more than once, but I have wondered about things like life out there. I'm sure that, if intelligent life is able to form on a planet in time to create technology for using radio waves like us and it is at the right time, they could very well watch our planet's life (in a sense). Erg, that's also assuming their race lasts as long as ours, and they are able to make something of the waves. There may be synching problems with language, such as them using different programming than ours, which would make our waves appear as mumbled garbage or static to them. In a sort of melancholy scene, it could be like the movie Time Machine in that they would probably be able to see our development as a species from life to our either "keel-over-and-die" or "go-out-with-a-bang" death. Kind of an interesting concept from an outside point-of-view, and a bit sad from ours, I think. Sort of like the life of a housepet born into family pet-dom: you see it from the time it's born, as it goes throughout its life, until it becomes old and eventually has to die. *sniffle* Now you have me all touchy. ;) Anyways... nice analysis of the first game. I would presume that the second game's story had a theme more about how Earth is one big tribe and how we should work together rather than fight each other. It also has that Vega and Altair reference from the Tanabata tradition from Japan. |

wow.... you make SO much sense.... my brain hurts. But i also believe they HAVE visited our planet. Not EM beings but SOME form of a being. i dont think they are Harmful in fact i think they fear us because of our destructive nature. we thrive on action movies and boxing. We have wars and sometimes even massacres. they might not want to make Complete contact with use because they may feel that we will fear their appearance, and freak out and attack. has anyone seen the movie District 9? If a being from another planet WERE to come to our planet i think that ppl would be VERY frightened. Keep in mind that we humans have the tendancy to fear the strange. In short.... i only think they're observing us. we're not ready to make contact due to the fact that we are always making movies and games that depict the aliens or ET's as violent desructive beings. they may believe we are creating an unecessary vendetta. *takes a deep breath* and if there ARE EM beings... dont you think we'd get some sort of image or sound of them on OUR radio? unless its of a different Frequency. |

They would be foolish to believe we would wage war on them. If aliens came we would either befriend them or enslave them as servants. How awesome would it be to have an alien slave!? Since they aren't people there might not be anything morally wrong with it!

that's JUST the mentality they fear. because if they resist enslavement this would lead to war. we'd attack.and they have two choices of response.... Obliterate the human species.... or run.... |

Or they can surrender and live in harmony with the 'mean slave driving humans'. They just need something to appease people with. Just bring something shiny and us simple humans will be their BFF, or some awesome piece of technology and send it as a peace offering. (Hey Globrulon, if you are reading this try it, maybe you can augment humans like in MMSF...)

I would feel annoyed and then I would rise up and take out the aliens' government and rule them. :P It will always end well for me in any alien fantasy.

I get where your coming from Tyvolt, and agree wholly with your ideas of it, unfortunatly for us, because if there ARE in fact more intelligent and advanced beings out there, they could hold the answers to many diseases that we've yet to cure completely, and could really help our civilization thrive. Maybe some day mankind will be able to move forward and become more diplomatic towards the unknown, but for now, I don't think it would be possible. |
